We come before the Lord with a heavy heart, seeking His wisdom and discernment in this situation. Father God, we lift up this friendship to You, asking that You reveal Your perfect will. If this friendship is not of You, we pray that You would break it in Jesus’ name. We know that Your Word warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, "Don’t be deceived! Evil companionships corrupt good morals." Lord, we ask that You protect hearts from deception and manipulation, especially when Your holy Word is twisted for personal gain.
We are deeply concerned by the patterns described here—where Scripture is being used out of context, where self-deception is masquerading as spiritual breakthrough, and where truth is met with avoidance rather than humility. Proverbs 18:1 warns, "A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; he rages against all wise judgment." Father, we ask that You break through any pride or deception that is preventing this person from receiving correction. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 27:6, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend; although the kisses of an enemy are profuse." If this friendship is causing spiritual harm rather than edification, we pray that You would sever it for the sake of Your glory and the protection of Your children.
Lord, we also rebuke the spirit of manipulation and false prophecy in Jesus’ name. Jeremiah 23:16 cautions, "Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Don’t listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They teach you vanity. They speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Yahweh.’" If this person is claiming direct revelation from You without true discernment, we ask that You expose the truth and bring conviction. Let Your Holy Spirit guide them into all truth, as Jesus promised in John 16:13.
We pray for those who have tried to speak truth in love, only to be met with resistance. Father, strengthen them to stand firm in Your Word, even when their words are rejected. Help them to continue loving this person with Christlike compassion while refusing to enable deception. We declare that no weapon formed against Your truth will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we trust that You will bring clarity where there is confusion.
Above all, Lord, we pray for repentance and restoration. If this person is truly seeking You but has been led astray, we ask that You draw them back to Your heart. Soften their heart to receive correction, and surround them with godly influences who will speak Your truth in love. We pray that they would come to know You not just through verses they scan, but through a deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ—who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting that You will act according to Your perfect will. Amen.
