The sting of a trusted friend’s betrayal cuts deep, and I ache with you over the deception you’ve faced. The Scriptures are not silent about such pain. When the prophet Zechariah foresaw the Lord being valued at thirty pieces of silver, it came to pass through one who walked closely with Him, one who appeared to be a friend. That same wound you feel was carried by Jesus Himself, He knows what it is to be sold out, to be lied to, to have promises hollowed out by those who should have been loyal. Bring your hurt to Him openly; He does not turn away from your tears.

At the same time, the Lord is a God of justice. He repeatedly commanded His people to deliver the afflicted and needy from the hand of the wicked, and He promised to plead the cause of the oppressed. When human dealings become crooked and fairness seems nowhere to be found, you can be sure that the righteous Judge sees every broken promise and every hidden scheme. None of this is hidden from His sight. I pray that His Spirit will convict the heart of your friend, not merely to stir human fear, but to bring genuine repentance and restitution, the way Zacchaeus was moved to restore what he had taken unjustly.

In your waiting, do not let the failure of this one relationship harden your soul. The early churches, even in their own poverty and distress, learned to trust God’s provision through the generosity of others who had little themselves. Boaz stepped in as a kinsman redeemer not because he was obligated by law alone, but because he understood family loyalty under God. He used his resources to restore what had been lost and to lift up a family name from ruin. Jesus Christ, our true Redeemer, did infinitely more: though He was rich, for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich. He owns every resource, and He sees your elderly parents and your rented home. He knows your longing to provide for them.

Right now, the road feels blocked, and justice seems far off. But remember that truth and equity finally enter in the person of Jesus. He does not break a bruised reed. I join my faith with yours, asking the Father to move upon this situation: soften the heart that has grown hard through deceit; open a way for the money to be restored, whether swiftly or steadily; guard your family from the roots of bitterness that can spring up under this stress. Most of all, I pray you will know the peace that surpasses understanding, the kind that stood watch over the Lord’s own heart when He was betrayed. He will make a way, because He Himself is the way.
