Disciple of Prayer
Dear Pastor/Prayer Team, I am writing this email in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with great respect, seeking your prayers and support during a very difficult time in my life. About two years ago, my fiancé and I lent a significant amount of money to one of my close friends from my college days, ###. We trusted him completely because of our long-standing friendship. In October last year, he promised that he would return our money and explained that he had suffered some financial losses and needed additional time to settle. However, when I later visited him in person, I discovered that much of the story he had told us was not true. Since then, we have been struggling to recover our money. Despite our repeated calls and messages, he continues to make promises that he will repay us by the end of each month, but those promises have never been fulfilled. This situation has caused immense stress and hardship for me and my entire family. Every day, we are forced to follow up with him and request the return of our own money. My parents are both over ### years old, and we are still living in a rented house. I had entrusted this money to him with the hope of building a better future for my family and eventually purchasing a home for my elderly parents. The emotional burden has become overwhelming. We are deeply hurt and heartbroken, and many days are filled with worry and tears as we wait for a resolution. I humbly ask for your prayers that God will intervene in this situation, soften his heart, and help us recover the money that rightfully belongs to us. Please pray for peace, strength, wisdom, and financial restoration for my family. My only hope is in our Lord Jesus Christ. I surrender myself, my family, and all these burdens into His hands, trusting that He will make a way where there seems to be no way. Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. In Jesus' Name, ###

We hear your cry, and our hearts ache with yours as we stand with you in this trial. You have placed your trust not only in a friend but ultimately in the Lord, who sees all things and judges justly. The betrayal of trust is a deep wound, and the financial strain compounds the burden, but we serve a God who is both our Provider and our Avenger. Let us first rebuke the spirit of deception and dishonesty that has taken root in this situation. The Word declares in Proverbs 12:22, "Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight." This friend has not only broken your trust but has grieved the heart of God by his deceit. We stand against the lies and the delay tactics, declaring that the truth will prevail and justice will be served.

We also must address the matter of your relationship with your fiancé. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and any union outside of this design falls short of God’s perfect will. In 1 Corinthians 7:2, it says, "But because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband." If you and your fiancé are living together or engaging in sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we urge you to repent and seek God’s forgiveness. The Lord desires for you to honor Him in all areas of your life, including your relationship. Consider making the commitment of marriage before God, as He intended, so that your union may be blessed and your home built on a firm foundation.

Now, let us lift your financial burden to the Lord, who owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10) and is able to restore what has been lost. The enemy may have intended this situation for harm, but God can turn it around for your good (Genesis 50:20). We pray that the Lord would soften the heart of this friend and convict him of his wrongdoing. May he be led to repentance and restoration, not only of the money but of his integrity before God. If he refuses to do what is right, we trust that the Lord will bring justice in His perfect timing. Romans 12:19 reminds us, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'"

We also pray for your family’s provision and peace. You mentioned the desire to purchase a home for your elderly parents, and we believe God hears the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:25 says, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread." The Lord is your Provider, and He will not abandon you. We ask that He open doors of opportunity for you, whether through restitution from this friend, a new job, a business venture, or another means of financial breakthrough. May He give you wisdom in managing your resources and discernment in your dealings with others.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear brother and his family, asking that You would surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Lord, You see the injustice they have endured, and we ask that You would move mightily on their behalf. Soften the heart of this friend who has deceived them, and lead him to repentance and restitution. If he refuses to do what is right, we trust in Your justice, knowing that You will repay what has been taken.

Father, we also ask for Your provision and restoration. You are the God who owns all things, and nothing is too hard for You. Open doors of opportunity for this family, and bless them abundantly. Provide for their needs and grant them the desires of their hearts, especially the desire to honor their parents with a home. Give them wisdom in their finances and discernment in their relationships.

Lord, we pray for healing from the emotional pain and betrayal they have experienced. Comfort them in their sorrow and fill them with hope for the future. Strengthen their faith and remind them that You are their Refuge and Strength, a very present help in trouble.

We rebuke the spirit of delay and deception in this situation, declaring that the truth will prevail and justice will be served. We stand on Your Word, which says in Proverbs 13:11, "Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow." May this friend be convicted of his wrongdoing and moved to make things right.

Finally, Lord, we ask that You would draw this family closer to You through this trial. May they seek You first in all things and trust in Your unfailing love. We surrender this situation into Your hands, believing that You will make a way where there seems to be no way. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and fasting, trusting that He is working even when you cannot see it. Keep your focus on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The Lord is your Shepherd, and He will not leave you lacking (Psalm 23:1). If there are legal avenues you can pursue to recover what is rightfully yours, seek godly counsel and proceed with wisdom. Above all, guard your heart against bitterness, for the Lord desires for you to walk in forgiveness and peace. May He bless you and your family abundantly as you trust in Him.

We’re so sorry for the weight you’re carrying. Being betrayed by a close friend, someone you trusted enough to lend such a significant amount, cuts deep. Add the daily stress of chasing what’s rightfully yours, the worry for your parents’ future, and the grief of watching a hoped-for home slip further away, and it’s no wonder the tears come easily. You and your fiancé have shown real patience and restraint, and we hurt with you over the dishonesty you’ve encountered.

When trust is broken like this, it can leave us feeling foolish and utterly alone. Yet you’ve placed your hope where it truly belongs. In the waiting, it might help to share the burden with a wise, level-headed person from your church or a Christian financial counselor, someone who can walk alongside you, help you assess practical next steps (like a firm, written repayment plan or mediation), and guard your heart against bitterness. You don’t have to navigate this alone.

We also want to gently acknowledge how exhausting it is to live with this hanging over you every day. The mental load of repeated calls and empty promises can drain your strength. Be kind to yourselves in this season. Take moments to step away from the problem, to breathe, and to let God’s peace settle your hearts, even if the situation remains unchanged for now.

Please join us as we pray:

Father, you see this injustice and the pain it has caused. We lift up this brother and his family, his fiancé, his elderly parents, and ask you to bring swift resolution. Move in the heart of the one who owes them, that he would honor his word and repay what is due. Till then, hold them steady. Replace anxiety with your unexplainable peace. Give them wisdom for each conversation and decision. Provide for their needs, and let their trust in you deepen even as human trust has been shattered. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

thank you so much for the prayer

The sting of betrayal cuts deep, for it is the sin of Judas wrapped in the cloak of friendship. The psalmist knew this well, those words smoother than butter, yet drawn swords hidden in the heart. Your experience echoes that ancient treachery, a covenant broken by one who feigned peace. Yet remember, the betrayal of our Lord was not outside the sovereign purpose of God; it was the ordained pathway to redemption. Even this trial, permitted by Providence, is not aimless suffering. The weight you carry, the tears of your parents, the weary pursuit of what is justly yours, none of it escapes the gaze of Him who was Himself sold for silver.

Do not imagine that peace must wait until the money is restored. That would be to seek peace where Christ has not placed it. You ask for a softening of your friend's heart, and that is a right prayer, but the greater need is for your own heart to be stayed upon God in unshakable trust. "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: because he trusts in You." The margin reads "peace, peace", a double peace, a peace within and a peace without, a peace that the world cannot give and circumstances cannot steal. This peace is not found in the recovery of funds, but in the blood of Jesus that whispers peace within. Even with sorrows surging round, the soul fixed on Christ finds perfect rest. Your earthly hope was set upon a house for your parents; let your heavenly hope be set upon the House not made with hands. If God should delay the return of this money, or even withhold it entirely, can you yet say, "He is my peace"? Until you can, the restoration you most urgently need is not financial.

Consider Peter, restored though he had fallen so grievously. That look from Christ, it severed him from the crowd, broke his heart, and began his healing. The Lord permitted the sifting, but He prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail. The result was not merely a return to his former state, but a conversion to a deeper usefulness: "When you are converted, strengthen your brethren." So it may be with you. This furnace is refining you, that you might minister to others who suffer at the hands of false friends and broken promises. But first you must drink the cup Peter drank, the bitter tears of repentance for any place where your trust in man eclipsed your full reliance upon God. Cry out with the Psalmist, "Against You, You only, have I sinned," and let the justice of God silence every murmuring thought. If the Lord were to mark iniquities, who could stand? Yet He is a God of perfect restoration. He will not deal with you on terms of cold justice, but on terms of covenant mercy. Confess your anxious cares as unbelief, and fall upon the gracious promise that He will restore to you the years the locust has eaten, not necessarily in coin, but in the far richer currency of His presence.

This world offers a false peace, a slumber of conscience where men cry "peace, peace" when there is no peace. The peace of God, purchased by the blood of the Cross, is of a nobler character. It is peace with God that publishes itself in the conscience. It is peace that can sing in a prison, peace that can smile in poverty, peace that looks upon an empty purse and a rented house and still whispers, "It is enough! Earth's struggles soon shall cease, and Jesus calls us to Heaven's perfect peace." Seek first this peace. Let your prayer rise less as a plea for money and more as a plea for Christ. "Lord, renew my peace. I am troubled, but You are unmoved, bless me with Your peace." When that peace garrisons your heart, you will be fit to pursue whatever temporal justice God may ordain, either through the softened heart of your debtor or through the provision that comes from an unexpected quarter.

Do not let the failure of this friend sour your spirit into bitterness. The world's justice is a poor thing at best, but God's justice is unimpeachable, and He is the defender of the widow and the fatherless, and of those who are oppressed. Commend your cause silently to Him. Cease from the wearisome following up, the endless calls and messages, and leave the matter before the throne. It may be that in ceasing your own strivings, you will see the Lord work. And if, in His wisdom, He does not work in the way you expect, count it all joy, for your true treasure is not that which moth and rust corrupt, and which thieves break in to steal. Your true treasure is the unsearchable riches of Christ, He who, though He was rich, yet for your sake became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich. That wealth is yours eternally; no treacherous friend can diminish it.

Go now to the God of all peace. Confess the idolatry of a heart that tied its hope to a sum of money. Receive the look of Christ, that look which restores wandering Peters, and let it draw from you the tears of sweet repentance. Then, once converted, turned again to your first love and simple trust, look about you to strengthen your brethren. There are others sinking in similar sorrows; your tested faith will be their lifeboat. This trial, bitter as it is, shall then be seen as the very instrument of your enlargement. The Lord will bless His people with peace, peace that passes understanding, peace that rests upon an unchanging covenant, peace that is Himself. Lay hold of that, and you have all.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of a trusted friend who deceived you and withholds your money. Such is the madness of the love of money, a grievous tyrant that makes the soul drunk and leads men to betray even their closest companions. Remember Judas, one of the twelve, who for thirty pieces of silver betrayed the Lord of glory. The sign he gave was a kiss; your friend's repeated promises have been his kiss, broken each month. But do not let this betrayal poison your heart. We owe God a debt of ten thousand talents we can never repay, yet He cancels it when we remit to our neighbors their few and trifling debts. You ask for justice, and indeed strict justice would demand punishment for such wrong. Yet God mingles mercy with justice, and He commands you to do the same. Pray not only for the return of your money, but for the softening of that man's heart, that he may escape the woe of those who love gain and betray trust.

Your desire to provide for your aged parents is good and holy. Scripture bids you honor father and mother and requite them for their care. But do not believe that this trial is outside God's providence. When the disciples saw the man born blind, they asked who sinned. Our Lord replied, "Neither this man nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." So your hardship is not a sign of God's absence, but an arena to display His glory, if you endure with faith. Do not fix your hope on that money as the source of your peace. He who gave His Son for you will supply every true need.

You say you surrender all into Christ's hands. Then do not merely weep over lost silver, but give thanks even in affliction. A thankful soul confesses that all is gift, not a debt owed to us. Forgive, as you have been forgiven. Show mercy, and you will obtain mercy. May the Lord, who sees your tears, restore what the locust has eaten and grant you a secure dwelling. But above all, may He grant you the treasure in heaven that no thief can steal and no deceitful friend can withhold.
