Prayer request for a mother and her son

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Prayer request for a mother and her son. The mother will start deleting her son's dad as a contact in her phone in a few weeks. She will change that phone's number. The dad of her son has been lying over and over about sending his son cash to help him out but never follows through but then begs her son to help him hunt, begs him for cash when he gets his financial aid for the community college. Her son's dad had lied about sending money through zelle but never did. When he was doing fire his fighter job he asked her son to pray for him and his safety while on the job. The mom is tired of her son's dad lying to her son, the manipulation, the mind games, the promises but just broken promises to her son. Her son is his only child. He had wanted her to get an abortion long ago. But she is now seeing more and more of his hatred towards their son. Please keep her in prayer as she starts breaking contact with her son's father. She no longer wants to be involved with broken promises between her son and his dad anymore.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this mother and her son, asking for His divine protection, wisdom, and peace as they navigate this painful season. Father God, we know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You draw especially close to this mother and son as they prepare to step away from a relationship filled with deception, manipulation, and broken trust.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of dishonesty and manipulation that has taken root in the father’s words and actions. Your Word is clear: "Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who do the truth are His delight" (Proverbs 12:22). We pray that the father’s eyes would be opened to the harm he has caused his son and that he would repent of his ways. However, if his heart remains hardened, we ask that You shield this mother and son from further pain and confusion. Give them the strength to walk away from toxic patterns, knowing that You are their true Provider and Protector.

We also lift up the son, who has been caught in the middle of these broken promises. Father, heal the wounds in his heart caused by his father’s neglect and lies. Remind him of his worth in Your eyes, that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and deeply loved by You. Help him to release any bitterness or resentment, trusting that You will work all things together for his good (Romans 8:28). Give him the discernment to recognize healthy relationships and the courage to set boundaries when needed.

For the mother, Lord, we ask for Your peace to guard her heart and mind (Philippians 4:7) as she makes this difficult decision. Strengthen her resolve to protect her son from further harm, and fill her with the assurance that You are her defender. Help her to model godly love and stability for her son, showing him what it means to trust in You above all else.

We pray that this season of separation would not be one of despair but of hope. May they both find solace in Your presence and discover the healing that comes from surrendering their pain to You. Father, we declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that You will restore what has been stolen from them. Surround them with godly community and wise counsel as they move forward.

Above all, we ask that You draw this mother and son closer to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). May they find their identity, security, and purpose in Him alone. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We hear the exhaustion in your words, watching someone you love be lied to and manipulated over and over takes a deep toll. The pattern of broken promises, the mind games, the begging for cash after failing to provide, all of it erodes trust and wounds a young man’s spirit. You are carrying heavy disappointment, and we are sorry.

You are doing something difficult but necessary: choosing to shut the door on that chaos. Changing your number and deleting his contact is a concrete way of saying, “This stops here.” That is not a failure of love; it is a mother guarding her son’s heart and her own. Healthy boundaries are not walls meant to punish, they are property lines that protect what God has given us to steward, including our peace and the well‑being of those we care for. Stepping away from a relationship marked by chronic deceit and manipulation is not a lack of forgiveness; it is wisdom.

We pray that as you follow through, you will feel some of that weight lift. The silence may feel strange at first, but it is space being cleared for healing. Let a trusted friend or two know what you are doing, so you are not alone in this. And if the dad tries to contact your son through other channels, having a plan, maybe blocking calls or rehearsing a simple, firm response, can help you both stay steady.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, give this mother steady courage and a deep sense that she is not walking away from love, but toward safety. Shield her son from further pain and help him know Your faithfulness that never fails. Bring caring people around them, and let Your peace settle over their home. In Your name we ask this. Amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father soften hearts and heal this relationship and strengthen communication. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When a father’s promises crumble, it is like a broken column over the grave of hope, a sudden, sickening snap where there should be strength. The lad’s heart is broken; he has listened for the ring of true words and heard only the hollow echo of lies. But know this, that the Lord is near unto them that are of a broken heart, and He saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. The bones which sin and sorrow have broken, He can make to rejoice. Your son has been wounded by an earthly father; let him now look to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, in whom there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. His promises are yea and amen; He will not mock a child’s cry.

You are right to repair the wall that has been broken down. When the hedge of righteous protection is trampled, the tender vineyard of the soul is laid waste. This man’s words are as a broken fence, letting in every evil beast to devour. Better to build a narrow gate of separation than to watch the inheritance of your son’s peace be eaten by the locusts of deceit. Yet, as you bar that door, hold the latchstring of your own heart fast against bitterness. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight, this is the meekness that wins the crown. The prodigal’s elder brother was nearer to the house, but farther from the feast; be not thou like him, but rather pray, “Father, forgive him,” and then leave the matter with the Judge of all the earth.

Remember that the great Healer of broken hearts is One whose own heart was broken. Jesus knows the pang of betrayal; He drank that cup to its dregs. Commit the lad to Him, and teach him that if his earthly father fails, his heavenly Father honors those who serve Him. Let him look not for the Zelle of man’s charity, but for the unsearchable riches of Christ. There is a promise for him, clear as the morning: “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” Lay hold of that word; it is a key that unlocks the treasury of grace. May the Father of mercies bind up your wounds, and may the lad find his manhood at the feet of the Son, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not be troubled that this earthly father proves false, for you are setting a boundary not out of hatred but out of holy protection for the child God entrusted to you alone. The father of lies has used this man to wound your son with broken promises, but the Son of God reveals the true Father who never deceives and never abandons. When you cut off that contact, you are not depriving the boy of a father; you are clearing away thorns so the heavenly seed may grow unhindered. The fear of the Lord will be a wall around him stronger than any man’s protection, and the Spirit Himself will teach him to cry out in prayer with a confidence no earthly parent can provide.

Pray for that man’s repentance, yes, but do not let sentiment bind your son to repeated harm. Better to have God as his Father than to chase after a ghost of false help that never comes. The Comforter stands with you as you make this break, and the same Spirit who intercedes with groanings too deep for words will sustain both mother and son in the loneliness that may follow. You are not removing a true friend but exposing a snare, and the church strives together with you in prayer that this severing may bring peace, not bitterness; healing, not loss. Go forward in the mercy by which we are all saved, and trust the One whose promises are never empty.
