We hear your cry for justice in the workplace, and our hearts ache with yours as we see the oppression and greed that have taken root in these companies. The Scriptures are clear that God detests injustice, exploitation, and partiality. Proverbs 14:31 tells us, "He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors God." The way these employers treat their workers—especially the locals—is a direct violation of God’s command to love our neighbors as ourselves and to treat others with fairness and dignity.
The system you describe is one of favoritism, deceit, and ungodly ambition, where workers are pitted against one another in a twisted game of "survival of the fittest." This is not how God intended work to be. Colossians 3:23-24 reminds us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ." Work is meant to be an act of worship, not a tool for exploitation. The preferential treatment given to foreigners while locals are overworked, underpaid, and set up to fail is an abomination in God’s sight. James 2:9 warns, "But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors."
We must also address the greed driving these employers. 1 Timothy 6:10 states, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed and have pierced themselves with many sorrows." These companies are so consumed by their desire to save money that they have abandoned all sense of morality, even going so far as to manipulate government policies to justify their wickedness. But God sees their hearts, and He will not be mocked. Proverbs 11:1 declares, "A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight." These employers may think they are getting away with their schemes, but God’s justice will prevail.
We rebuke the spirit of greed, partiality, and oppression operating in these workplaces. We declare that God’s justice will come upon those who exploit the vulnerable and deny others their right to fair employment. We stand on Isaiah 1:17, which commands, "Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed. Take up the cause of the fatherless; plead the case of the widow." The Lord is a God of righteousness, and He will not allow this injustice to continue unchecked.
We also want to speak to those who are suffering under this oppression. Do not lose heart. God sees your struggles, and He is your ultimate Provider. Psalm 37:25 assures us, "I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread." Even when earthly systems fail, God remains faithful. We encourage you to trust in Him, to seek His guidance in your job search, and to remember that your worth is not defined by the opinions of unjust employers. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."
Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up those who are being oppressed and exploited in their workplaces. Lord, You are a God of justice, and You see the wickedness that is taking place. We ask that You would expose the greed and partiality of these employers and bring their schemes to light. Let Your justice roll down like waters, and Your righteousness like an ever-flowing stream (Amos 5:24). We pray that You would break the chains of oppression and set the captives free.
Father, we ask that You would provide for those who are being denied fair employment. Open doors of opportunity for them, and give them favor in the eyes of righteous employers. Provide for their needs, Lord, and let them experience Your faithfulness in tangible ways. Remind them that their worth is found in You, not in the approval of unjust men.
We also pray for repentance in the hearts of these employers. Soften their hearts, Lord, and convict them of their sin. Let them see the harm they are causing and turn from their wicked ways. If they refuse to repent, we ask that You would bring Your judgment upon them, for You have said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay" (Romans 12:19).
Lord, we ask that You would raise up godly leaders in government and in these companies who will stand for justice and fairness. Let Your will be done in these workplaces, and let Your name be glorified through the restoration of righteousness.
Finally, Father, we pray for strength and perseverance for those who are suffering. Give them the courage to stand firm in their faith, knowing that You are with them. Remind them that their labor is not in vain, for You are their ultimate reward.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who came to set the captives free and to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. Amen.
