Thank you for sharing your heart and inviting prayer in this spiritual battle. We stand with you in faith and agreement before the Lord.
Your prayer rightly recognizes that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of darkness in this world. The good news of the gospel is that Jesus has already won the decisive victory over those very powers. On the cross He defeated them and made an open display of His triumph. Because of what He finished there, we do not fight in order to obtain victory, we fight from victory. In Christ we enter the battle as victors.
God has not left us without help for this warfare. The weapons He has given are not human or physical. They are spiritual and they are mighty through God to pull down strongholds. His Word, faith, and prayer are among those weapons. Prayer especially is a powerful gift. We have been given such a strong resource to lay hold of God's help, and yet we often use it far less than we could. When we pray in Jesus name we are exercising real authority that He has provided.
That is why we can come against the accusations and schemes of the enemy by claiming what Jesus has already done. The enemy is the accuser and the deceiver, and we are not unaware of his ways. We do not need to argue with him directly. We keep the Lord between us and the enemy, resist him in the name of Jesus, and trust the Lord to rebuke him. Through faith in the blood of Christ and the truth of God's Word we can cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and we can find victory even in our own thoughts.
A key to walking in that victory is to rejoice in what the Lord has already accomplished. As we thank God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ and who always causes us to triumph in Christ, heaviness and irritation lose their hold. Scripture says we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us, which means we can have joy and confidence before we see the outcome with our eyes, praising Him for His mercy and power while the battle is still before us.
So we join you in prayer now. Father, we thank You for the victory of Jesus over every power of darkness. We ask that You help our brother or sister to walk in that finished victory, to use the spiritual weapons You have provided, to stand firm in faith, to grow strong in Your Word, and to be steadfast in prayer. We ask You to silence every accusation, to break every hold of the enemy, and to fill this life with Your peace, Your favor, and Your blessing according to Your perfect will. May Your glory be seen and may this heart be strengthened to live each day in the triumph that is already ours in Christ. We ask this in the name of Jesus with thanksgiving. Amen.
