Prayer over past sins

Jonathan_M

Beloved of All
Dear Family Of God, Today I'd like to pray over past sins. I have committed these sins with close family members and found it immensely hard to confess them to anyone for face to face confession and prayer. The devil has been recently hounding me over them, not allowing me a holy and clean conscious. I bring these sins before you today O' God. I pray that they be washed clean by the blood of Jesus the lamb of God and Savior of the world. My past shall never again haunt me. I pray for favor favor favor. I pray for miracles miracles miracles in pray for blessings blessings blessings. I'd like to pray against principalities and powers of darkness in high places. I pray for extreme, unmatched, unstoppable, unspeakable, abundantly, abounding glory all over the world. Please stand with me in faith and prayer over this. All these things I humbly ask in Jesus Christ name with thanksgiving. Thank you.

We hear the burden of your heart and we stand with you in faith before the throne of grace. We understand how heavy past sins can feel, especially when they involve close family members and when the enemy brings constant accusation that robs you of a clean conscience. We thank you for bringing this honestly before God, for it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and it is only by His blood that we are cleansed, and you have rightly called upon Him.

Scripture tells us If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. And As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Isaiah 1:18. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. Romans 8:1. When we repent and turn to Him, He blots out our sins and remembers them no more.

We must also speak truth in love about sins committed with close family members. If these sins involved sexual immorality, God calls that very serious. His Word says None of you shall approach any close relatives to uncover their nakedness. Leviticus 18:6 and Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. Whether fornication outside of marriage or any sexual sin within the family, God calls us to repent, to turn completely away, and to walk in purity. Marriage is honored by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and all sexual intimacy is to be kept within that holy covenant alone. We lovingly rebuke any continuing in such sin and we urge you to forsake it entirely, for godly sorrow works repentance to salvation. 2 Corinthians 7:10 and Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out. Acts 3:19.

We also hear your struggle to confess face to face. God desires truth and healing, and His Word says Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. James 5:16. While your first confession is to God who forgives through the blood of the Lamb, we encourage you to seek a trusted, mature pastor or godly counselor for face to face confession and prayer. If your sins were committed with or against family members, that may also require, with wise pastoral guidance, humbly seeking reconciliation where it is safe and appropriate, not to continue in shame but to walk in the light and make your path straight before the Lord. Do not walk alone in this. The accuser of our brothers is cast down. Revelation 12:10, and the devil will hound a forgiven conscience with condemnation, but the Holy Spirit convicts unto repentance and then gives peace.

We understand your longing for favor and miracles and blessings and for victory over darkness. We too pray against the spiritual forces you named, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12. Yet true blessing flows from a cleansed heart and an obedient walk, not merely from seeking favor for its own sake. We pray that your greatest desire would be His glory and His will, and that all other blessings would be added according to His wisdom.

We pray together now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Your Lamb who takes away the sin of the world. We confess before You the past sins of our dear brother or sister, including those committed with close family members, and we ask for Your mercy. Wash them clean by the blood of Jesus. Purify the conscience, let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience. Hebrews 10:22. We ask that You blot out these transgressions for Your own sake and remember them no more. Isaiah 43:25. Silence the hounding of the enemy, rebuke every principality and power of darkness that seeks to haunt and accuse, and let Your perfect love cast out fear. Fill this heart with assurance that in Christ there is no condemnation. Grant repentance that bears fruit, strength to flee all sexual immorality and every temptation, and grace to walk in holiness and purity from this day forward. Give courage to seek godly counsel for face to face confession and prayer, and bring healing where there has been wounding within the family. We ask for Your favor and blessing not as we imagine but as You will, for miracles that display Your power, and for Your glory to be seen abundantly. Let the past never again hold this life captive, but let Christ be glorified in a clean and holy walk. We thank You that You hear us, that You forgive, and that You restore. All these things we humbly ask in Jesus Christ's name with thanksgiving, amen.

We are thankful you reached out and brought this honestly before the Lord. We hear how heavy this has felt, especially sins involving close family that have been hard to speak about face to face, and how loud the accusations have been lately. Wanting a clean conscience and to walk in a holy way before God is a good desire, and we are standing with you in it.

Confession is not meant to keep you stuck in shame. It is meant to bring healing and to help change take root, and that often happens best when it is not carried alone. God sees the heart you are bringing to Him now, and He also knows the weight of trying to sort the past by yourself.

One gentle next step to consider is asking one trusted, biblically grounded pastor or counselor for a confidential time to pray face to face. You do not have to have every conversation or decision figured out at once. Just having one safe person who will listen, pray with you in person, and walk with you as you keep turning toward Jesus can help quiet the circling thoughts and give you wisdom for what comes next.

Father, we lift our brother to You and thank You for Your mercy through Jesus. We ask You to wash and cleanse, to quiet the voice of accusation, and to give a settled, clean conscience before You. Bring healing where there has been hurt, surround him with trustworthy, godly support, and lead him step by step in wisdom, holiness and peace. We ask for Your will and Your glory to be evident in his life. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ, and to that forgiveness we direct you today. We have heard your burden concerning past sins committed with close family members, sins long kept secret and now pressing heavily upon your conscience, and we do not make light of either their guilt or their misery. Secret sins bring fevered eyes and sleepless nights, and guilt is a grim chamberlain even when no other eye has seen. Conscience itself will rightly accuse when it is awakened, and the adversary will hound a wounded conscience, but between his roars there sounds this silver note, there is forgiveness, there is forgiveness with God that He may be feared.

That forgiveness is not a mere formula but a realized fact for those who are in Christ. We have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace. As soon as a sinner trusts in his crucified God, all his sins are forgiven, whether past, present, or to come, not because the sin is small but for His own sake. He says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. Christ has so taken them away that through His blood you may be clean, and if your sins are searched for they shall not be found, for God will not remember them to condemn you nor to suspect you when you come in Christ.

Yet the Word shows us that the work of the Son in removing guilt is linked with the work of the Spirit in removing guile. When guilt is forgiven, guile is forsaken. The forgiven man undergoes a change of nature. He does not try to make his sins appear less heinous than they are, nor does he love the sins into which he fell. Though there are sins into which we fall, there are no sins which we love, and we cannot rest happy in falling short. You cannot claim the promises unless you are willing to keep the precepts, and no man may rightly pray, O Lord, keep me from great and open sins, but permit me to enjoy certain private sins that I am fond of. Such a prayer were worthier of a worshipper of Satan than of a worshipper of God. If we would have a clear conscience, we must be willing that the Lord should cleanse us from secret faults and keep us from every known sin.

Therefore we urge you to make a clean breast before God in confession, humbling yourself in His sight and confessing all the guilt without reserve. He has no buts in His forgiveness. You make a clean breast in confession and He will give you a clean breast by absolution. What you have found immensely hard to confess face to face, confess first and fully to God who already sees, and then seek a faithful, godly pastor or mature believer to hear you in confidence, that you may be prayed for and helped to walk in accountability and holiness. The blood of Jesus cleanses, and it also calls us to forsake the sin and to walk in newness of life, not to return to it nor to ask God to bless what He calls sin. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and the holy estate of marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with sexual union belonging only within it. Any other union is sin before God and must be repented of and forsaken, not celebrated or continued.

We stand with you in prayer, not that God would bless a sinful relationship, but that He would wash you and keep you clean.

O Lord, we bring this soul before You who is hounded by past sin. For Your own name's sake, blot out transgressions through the blood of the Lamb. Give a true and broken confession, and grant the forgiveness that is now to be enjoyed in Christ. Take away both guilt and guile, and by Your Spirit create a hatred for sin and a love for holiness. Quiet the accusing conscience with the assurance that You remember sin no more for those in Jesus, and give power to walk in purity and in the light. Guard against the principalities and powers of darkness, not by mere words of favor and miracles sought for their own sake, but by the armor of righteousness and the fear of Your name. Let Your glory be seen in a life cleansed, forgiven, and made obedient to Your Word. This we ask with thanksgiving in the name of Jesus Christ our only Savior. Amen.
