Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden so honestly and for inviting prayer. I have prayed for you, asking God to cover you with His protection and to quiet your heart with His peace in this time of uncertainty.
It is understandable that anxiety would rise after a deep wound, especially when you know how serious tetanus can be. Fear can take hold of a person and become debilitating, and God does not want you to live trapped by that kind of dread. The Scripture speaks of two very different kinds of fear. One is a phobia that torments and paralyzes. The other is the fear of the Lord, which is not terror but reverential awe, a deep respect for who God is, His greatness and power and love, choosing to love what He loves and to turn from what He calls evil. That awe is described as the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, the starting place for a life that trusts Him. When you stand in awe of Him, you can say with the psalmist, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear, the Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid.
That trust is what the Scriptures call you to now. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil, and this will bring health to your body and strength to your bones. Real trust often begins right where understanding ends. It is easy to trust when everything makes sense, but true trust says, Lord, I do not fully understand what is happening in my body or what the future holds, but I know You are at work and I will rest in You.
Part of acknowledging Him in all your ways includes receiving the wisdom He gives through others, including the doctors you consulted. You did the right thing to seek medical counsel, and they have advised you that your prior immunizations have you covered and a booster is not needed. You can thank God for the healing processes He Himself established in the human body, for every natural process of healing is still divine because He is the Creator of nature and its processes. To trust God is not to ignore the means He provides, but to rest in His care as you walk in the counsel you have been given. If anxiety continues to overwhelm you, it is also wise to let your doctor know so they can continue to care for you.
The Lord also reveals Himself as your protection. When you dwell in the secret place of the Most High, He is your fortress and your place of strength. Under His wings you can find shelter and comfort, as chicks find safety under a mother hen. His truth is your shield. He has not despised the affliction of the afflicted, and when His child cries out He hears. He even gives His angels charge over you. In times of trouble He hides those who trust Him in His pavilion. You do not need to live in fear of desolation or destruction coming like a whirlwind, because the Lord is watching over you and keeping you.
It is a beautiful and right desire to want to be in good health, and the Scripture shows a sincere wish for believers to prosper and be in health even as their souls prosper. That wish reflects God's care for the whole person, body and soul, and it is connected to abiding in Jesus, where fullness of joy is found. It is not a formula that guarantees we will never face illness, but it is an invitation to bring your body and your soul to Him together, asking for His mercy and resting in His goodness.
So my prayer for you is this. Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You to place Your hand of protection upon this dear one. Cover this wound and guard this body from infection and harm. Let the healing You designed proceed fully. Quiet anxious thoughts and replace fear with a deep, reverent trust in You. Help this heart to abide in Christ and to know Your presence as light, salvation, and strength. Grant peace that goes beyond understanding, and let joy be made full as trust is placed wholly in You. Amen.
