Prayer of protection against tetanus

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I recently had a stapler wound that was small but very deep. I got worried and contacted my doctor to assess whether I needed a vaccination booster or not. Both doctors I consulted with told me I no longer need one since I had my ### shots already, but I am still anxious about whether I am really protected or not. Tetanus is a scary and deadly bacterium, so please pray for God's protection and covering to be upon me. I want to exercise my faith even in the uncertainty.

We join with you in this worry and we understand how unsettling a deep wound can be, even when it looks small on the surface. Tetanus is indeed a serious concern and it is natural to feel anxious when doctors give reassurance but the fear still lingers. We want to stand with you to exercise faith even in that uncertainty and to ask for the Lord's protection and peace to cover you.

The anxiety you feel is something God understands and He invites us to bring it to Him. We are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And again in 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble, Psalm 46:1, and He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust, Psalm 91:1-2.

We noticed your request spoke of God and His protection but did not mention Jesus by name, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and confidence that He hears us. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus shed His blood for us and rose again that we can come boldly before God for healing, forgiveness, and protection, and we want to encourage you to place your trust fully in Him not only for this wound but for your whole life.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son and we lift up this dear one to You. You see this deep stapler wound and You know the anxiety that has followed. We ask for Your healing hand upon this injury, that You would keep it clean and free from any infection or tetanus and that You would cause the tissue to heal completely. We thank You for the wisdom You have given to doctors and for the protection already provided through prior vaccinations, and we ask that You would let that protection stand and guard this body You created. We pray against any fear and we ask for Your perfect peace to guard this heart and mind, to replace anxious thoughts with confident trust in Your care. We ask that You would make Your presence known as refuge and fortress, and that faith would grow even in uncertainty. We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust both the Lord's covering and the wisdom He gives through medical counsel. Since both doctors have assessed that you remain protected, we encourage you to rest in that reassurance while also being a good steward of your body by keeping the wound clean, watching for any signs of redness, swelling, increasing pain, fever, or muscle stiffness, and seeking prompt care if anything changes. God is your ultimate protector and He also works through the knowledge He has given to physicians. Keep bringing every anxious thought to Him in prayer with thanksgiving, and He will keep you in His perfect peace as you trust in Him.

We hear how unsettling this has been for you. A small but deep wound can feel very vulnerable, and when you have done the wise thing and checked with your doctors and still feel uncertain, that leftover anxiety is understandable. Tetanus is frightening to think about, and wanting to rest in God's protection while you wait is a faithful response.

We are encouraged that you reached out to your doctors promptly and received reassurance based on your vaccination history. Continuing to follow their guidance is a good way to care for yourself alongside prayer. If you notice any changes with the wound or if the worry keeps intruding and makes it hard to rest, please reach out to them again promptly, and consider sharing how you are feeling with a trusted pastor or counselor as well. You do not have to carry the uncertainty alone.

It makes sense that your mind and body are still on alert after the injury. Sometimes anxiety lingers even when we have taken the right steps, and bringing that honest concern to God is itself an act of faith in the midst of uncertainty.

Father, we bring our brother to You and ask for Your covering and peace over him. Calm his anxious thoughts, guard his body, and help him to rest in Your care day by day. Give him wisdom to keep following his doctors' counsel and confidence to turn to You whenever fear rises. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your request has been heard and we have carried it before the Lord with you. We understand the anxious thoughts that have followed this deep wound, and how the fear of what might be can weigh heavier than the wound itself. Tetanus is indeed a grave thing, and it is right to seek both wise medical counsel and the covering of our merciful God.

We thank God that you have sought the help of physicians, and that they have assessed your history and counselled you that you remain protected. The Lord in His goodness has given us means and skill for the care of the body, and we are to receive such counsel with thankfulness while still looking above the means to the Lord Himself who is our keeper.

Yet we hear also the trembling in your heart, that uncertainty which unfits a person to meet a difficulty. Hear the word of the Lord to such a heart, Fear not, for I am with thee. Be not dismayed, for I am thy God. I will help thee. The same voice that says Fear not, thou worm Jacob, says also, Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you. Anxiety confined within yourself will bring no good, but faith casts the burden upon Him who is able to bear it.

You desire to exercise faith even in uncertainty, and this is the very way of trust. As one has said, you are not to wait until you feel perfectly healed or perfectly assured before you trust Him. You are to trust Him for this very thing. Trust Him as you feel your weakness, and you shall find His strength. In the shadow of His wings you may make your refuge until these calamities be overpast, for your soul trusteth in Him.

We have prayed for you, that the Lord in His mercy would keep you from harm, that He would watch over your body and give you healing, and that He would grant to the wound a clean and speedy mending. We have prayed also that He would heal the anxiety within, and give you that peace which comes from knowing that not a sparrow falls without your Father, and that even the least things about His people are under His care. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. He who has power to forgive sin has power also to heal the body, and all our times are in His hand.

May the Lord grant you to play the man and let faith overcome fear, to rest upon His promise and to rejoice with trembling under His wing. Continue to watch the wound with care and to heed the counsel given to you, and if any sign of trouble should appear, seek help without delay. Above all, keep your soul trusting in the Lord Jesus, for they that trust in Him shall not be ashamed nor confounded.

We commend you to His gracious keeping, praying that He will cover you, quiet your heart, and let you know more fully that you are already the subject of His omnipotent grace because He has led you to believe and to live.

May the Sun of Righteousness arise upon you with healing in His wings, and may you know His love more deeply as you simply trust Him now. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
