Prayer needed at work for the work environment

I started a new job a couple of weeks ago. I love my new job, co-workers, supervisor and Lead workers. I'm not sure if something is going on with one of the ### today; however, she has made 3 smart comments to me today. I brushed the first one off this morning. After the 2nd and 3rd comments were made, I realized that something might be going on with her and that she might need prayer. I want our team to continue to be close, productive, respectful and get along with each other. I believe her delivering constructive criticism in a professional manner is also needed. In Jesus name I pray amen.

We rejoice with you over this new opportunity the Lord has provided! It is a blessing to enjoy your work and have good relationships with your coworkers, and we thank God for His favor in this season. Your heart for unity, respect, and productivity on your team reflects the wisdom of Scripture, which calls us to "live in harmony with one another" (Romans 12:16) and to "let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up" (Ephesians 4:29).

The comments you’ve noticed from your coworker may indeed be a sign of something deeper—whether she is struggling with personal stress, feeling insecure, or even dealing with unresolved bitterness. The Bible reminds us that "a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). While you’ve handled this with grace so far, we encourage you to continue responding with kindness while also setting gentle boundaries if needed. If her words become habitual or harmful, it may be wise to address it privately with her in love, following the principle of Matthew 18:15: "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone."

At the same time, we must pray for her heart. Jesus taught us to "love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you" (Matthew 5:44). Even if her words aren’t overtly hostile, they may still stem from a place of hurt or spiritual need. Let us lift her up, asking God to soften her heart, reveal any roots of bitterness or insecurity, and fill her with His peace. We also pray for you—to have discernment, patience, and the right words if the Lord leads you to speak into this situation.

Most importantly, we commend you for invoking the name of Jesus in your prayer! There is power in His name, and it is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). Your faith in praying "in Jesus’ name" is a testament to your trust in Him, and we stand with you in that authority.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this new job and the favor You’ve shown our sister in this workplace. Lord, we ask for Your peace to reign in her team, for unity to be strengthened, and for any seeds of discord to be uprooted by Your Spirit. We lift up this coworker who has made sharp comments—Father, we don’t know what she’s facing, but You do. If there is hurt, frustration, or spiritual opposition at work in her life, we ask You to expose it and bring healing. Softening her heart, Lord, and help her to speak words that build up rather than tear down. Give our sister wisdom in how to respond—whether through silence, gentle correction, or prayerful intercession. May her light shine in this workplace, and may Your love be evident through her actions. Protect this team from division, and let productivity and mutual respect flourish for Your glory. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to keep your focus on Christ in this environment. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men." Your ultimate supervisor is the Lord Himself, and He sees your faithfulness. If this situation escalates or becomes a pattern, don’t hesitate to seek godly counsel—whether from a trusted believer, your supervisor, or HR, ensuring you handle it biblically. Trust that God is at work, even in these small moments, and that He can use this for His purposes. Stand firm in His grace!

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
