Dear Lord, I have a job interview tomorrow, and this will be my ### one. I sincerely pray that I may succeed this time. Please grant me the strength to answer with calmness, clarity, and wisdom. Help me deliver my responses well and with confidence. Lord, I believe this opportunity can help me learn and grow even more. Please guide me and let Your will be done.

We come before the throne of grace with your request, lifting it up in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach the Father. Your desire for strength, calmness, clarity, and wisdom in your interview is commendable, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s guidance and provision.

The Word of God reminds us in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." We take comfort in knowing that the Lord hears your prayers and will grant you His peace as you prepare for this opportunity. Proverbs 3:5-6 also encourages us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." This is a reminder that our confidence should not rest in our own abilities alone, but in the One who directs our steps.

We also recognize the importance of seeking God’s will in all things, including our careers. James 4:13-15 teaches us, "Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit,' whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. For you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.'" This interview is an opportunity to trust God’s plan for your life, whether He opens this door or leads you elsewhere.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up this dear one who seeks Your guidance and favor for their job interview. Lord, we ask that You grant them the strength to speak with clarity and wisdom, and the confidence to present themselves well. Calm any anxiety or fear, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We trust that You are in control of every detail, and we ask that Your will be done in this situation. If this opportunity is part of Your plan, we pray that You would open the door wide and grant them success. If not, we ask that You would close it gently and lead them to the path You have prepared.

Father, we also pray that You would remind them of their worth in You. Help them to see this interview not just as a chance for employment, but as an opportunity to grow in faith, character, and reliance on You. May they walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ, knowing that their identity is secure in You. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s wisdom as you prepare for this interview. Spend time in prayer and meditation on His Word, and trust that He will equip you for whatever lies ahead. Remember, the Lord is your provider, and He knows your needs even before you ask (Matthew 6:8). Whether this opportunity leads to this job or another, rest in the knowledge that God is faithful and will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).

Finally, we want to gently remind you of the importance of approaching God through Jesus Christ. It is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to consider doing so today. The Bible tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Salvation is a free gift, and it is our prayer that you would receive it and walk in the fullness of God’s love and purpose for your life.

We’ve been sitting with your request this morning, and what stands out to us first isn’t the nerves, though those are completely normal, but the persistence. Going into a interview takes a kind of steady courage that doesn’t always get the credit it deserves. You’ve kept showing up, and we believe God sees that in you.

When someone’s been through the process several times already, one thing that can quietly help is narrowing the focus from “I need to land this” to “I’m going to give them a clear, honest look at who I am and what I can do.” The calmness and clarity you’re praying for often come a little more freely when we shift the goal from performing perfectly to simply being present with the people across the table. Before you walk in, it may help to jot down two or three specific strengths or experiences you want them to remember, not a full script, just a few anchors so your mind has somewhere to land if the nerves flare up. And remember to breathe slowly before you speak. That small physical act can clear the mental fog more than we expect.

We’re grateful you’re holding this open to God’s will, because that’s the safest place to land no matter what. What we’re praying for you isn’t that God bends the outcome to your hopes, but that you walk out knowing you conducted yourself with steadiness and integrity, and that whatever door opens next is one He can use for your growth.

Lord, as this interview approaches, settle our friend’s heart. Calm the racing thoughts. Help them speak with the clarity and warmth that honestly reflect who they are. Guide the conversation, and give them peace tonight no matter how tomorrow goes, knowing You are not anxious about their future. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You speak of needing wisdom for this interview, yet the path of wisdom is a way the vulture’s eye hath not seen, and the lion’s whelps have not trodden. There is not much more wisdom in man's judgment of God than in the flies' fabled judgment of an elephant. The way of wisdom is the very opposite way to your own natural strength. You feel good within yourself and hope your own strength and wisdom can find the way, but that road is a dead end. True wisdom begins when we confess our statements have been a darkening of wisdom by words without knowledge. The Lord's question to you now is the same He put to the blind man: What do you want Me to do for you? It is wisdom that makes you voice your need aloud, for Christ never does for us what we can do for ourselves, yet He bids us ask that our own hearts may hear the plea and know their poverty.

If any of you lack wisdom, and we all lack it, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not. He can give wisdom ready-made, but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. He that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. Let not that man think he shall receive anything of the Lord. This interview itself may be both a trial from God's side and a temptation from Satan's side, just as Job suffered. Yet in all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He fell down upon the ground, and worshipped. If God could uphold Job in all that, you may be sure He can support you. Come, if you are as poor as Job, be as patient as Job and you will find hope ever shining like a star which never sets.

Do not think your glory must fade as Job's temporal glory once did, for even in temporals he received at last twice as much. But the greater matter is your soul. If fears arise about the future, look to Him who dealeth with the sick sheep in His wisdom. Christ draws near to your doubt as He did to Thomas, saying, Be not faithless, but believing. Thomas made a splendid leap from the depths of doubt to the firm rock of confidence, grasping Christ with both hands and crying, My Lord and my God. Let your blood be your confidence, dear Savior, and Your law your rule. So shall your faith abound.

In your interview, deliver your responses without pretending to be anything else than you are, telling of God's amazing love, not quoting the experience of others, but giving out your own. This will be your wisdom and strength. And remember, the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Your longest sorrow has a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of misery. Job prayed for his offending friends, and so must you. If you go in bearing no grudge, but with a heart that weeps and grieves for others as Job did, then your own captivity shall be turned. Slaying times let us know whether our confidence is true. Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him. Go then with calmness, clarity, and a childlike confidence, for the Lord is just and His wisdom faileth not.

Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. You bring a request for a job interview, asking for calm, clarity, and wise answers. But consider what the world calls wisdom: self-reliance, polished speech, the confidence of human skill. The Apostle says this wisdom is coming to naught. The wisdom from above is Christ, and He is made unto us wisdom. If you trust in your own preparation, your own ability to deliver, you lean on a broken reed. Yet if you hold fast your confidence in God, He will give you the true wisdom that confounds the wise of this world.

Do not think you need the eloquence of the learned. The uneducated were chosen first to show that all need the wisdom from above. Go into that interview not with fear, but with the boldness of the Canaanite woman, who, though unworthy, pressed close and would not let go. Let your confidence be in God’s mercy, not your merit. And if He grants success, see it as a means to learn and grow, as you say, but above all to show charity and to do good to others. The heart of the righteous woman is wisdom, Scripture, sound doctrine, and kindness. Let that be your adornment.

Yet, whether you gain the position or not, do not cast away your confidence, which has great recompense of reward. If you are made the house of God by holding fast your rejoicing firm to the end, then no worldly failure can shake you. Seek first to be worthy of that title: lowly like the publican, merciful, and courageous in trial. A wife or a job is a great good, but also a great test. Do not let any loss drive you to impatience. If you obtain, bless God; if you are refused, bless Him still, for His will is your true nourishment. Let your prayer be not only for success, but for a heart that trusts wholly in Him. He will answer with the strength you need.

Your worth is not measured by whether tomorrow’s interview ends with a handshake and an offer. Job lost everything, not because he had failed, but because a far larger story was unfolding unseen. His friends insisted that suffering must be payment for some hidden sin. They were wrong. And if this interview does not go the way you hope, that will not be proof that God has held something against you either. He does not deal with His children on a ledger of interview results. Do not let fear write that false story over your life.

What you need tomorrow is not a perfect performance but a steady heart. That steadiness grows from the fear of the Lord, which is true wisdom, and from departing from evil, which is true understanding. Go into that room reverencing God, not the approval of the hiring manager. Trusting Him frees you to answer with clarity and calm, without panic or pretension. Your confidence rests not in your resume but in the God who already knows the outcome and is with you in the waiting.

Job cried out for someone to stand between himself and God, a mediator who could lay a hand on both. We have that mediator in Jesus. He understands every pressure, every disappointed hope, and He intercedes for you right now. So you can walk through that door quietly at rest, knowing you are not alone. He gives strength for honest words and a peaceful mind, whatever the questions.

Learn from Job’s friends what not to do. They talked long and helped little because they assumed they understood the whole picture. You do not need to figure out the hidden reasons for every past closed door. God’s wisdom is infinite; ours is not. There is no basis for comparison. Trust His will when it overrules yours. His will is not a second-best fallback but the good, acceptable, perfect path He has marked out.

Prepare yourself simply. Pray and then rest. Then go and do the work, offering your best with a quiet heart, leaving the result entirely in His hands. He is working even when you cannot trace His hand. That is your place of confidence.
