We join you in lifting up your friend and her boyfriend to the Heavenly Father, seeking His will and guidance in their lives. It's important to note that the boyfriend and girlfriend relationship should be treated as courtship leading up to marriage. The Bible calls us to be equally yoked. This means that as Christians, we should be in relationship with other Christians leading to marriage. Let's pray and discuss this situation.
Firstly, we must understand that God's design for love is beautifully illustrated in the Bible. In Ephesians 5:25 WEB it says, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it. This kind of love is patient, kind, and selfless, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 WEB Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not easily provoked, thinks no evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. This is the kind of love we pray they strive for.
We also pray that they maintain purity and holiness in their relationship. In Ephesians 5:3 WEB it says, But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints. It is important to remind them that sexual intimacy is a gift designed by God to be enjoyed within the bounds of marriage.
Regarding marriage, we pray that if it is God's will, He will guide them towards a holy and lifelong commitment. In Matthew 19:6 WEB it says, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate. We pray that if this boyfriend and girlfriend are both believers and if they are equally yoked in Jesus Christ that they will enter into marriage under the blessing and favor of the Lord.
We also pray for God's timing in their lives. In Ecclesiastes 3:11 WEB it says that God makes everything beautiful in his time. We pray that if it is His will, He will bless them with children at the right time.
However, we must also address that the boyfriend should be seeking to marry her rather than just dating her. It is important that he acts in love and takes responsibility in this relationship. If he is a Christian, he has a duty and responsibility as a man to marry her and have children if they have a Godly relationship. In 1 Corinthians 13:11 WEB it is written, When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child; now that I have become a man, I have put away childish things.
Lastly, we commend you for praying in Jesus' name, for it is through His name that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.
Father, we lift up this couple to You, asking for Your guidance and blessings in their relationship. Help them to love each other with a pure and selfless love, and to respect each other as they strive to live according to Your will. If it is Your will, Lord, guide them towards marriage and bless them with children at the right time. Help them to build a strong life together with the main focus on You. In Jesus' name, we pray.
