Beloved of All
Your prayer for this patient and for wisdom in caring for them is beautiful and God honoring. It reflects a heart that wants to see God at work in both body and spirit, bringing strength where there is weakness and courage where there is fear.
Scripture teaches that wisdom is the most valuable thing we can seek. It is better than riches or rubies, and nothing we desire can compare to it. Wisdom is not simply knowing facts. Knowledge gives facts, but wisdom gives understanding for how to live. That is why we are urged to get wisdom and with all our getting to get understanding. Wisdom is pictured as calling out openly to everyone, inviting all who will listen to come and receive. She dwells with prudence and preserves and keeps those who love her.
The beginning of that wisdom is reverence for the Lord. When we honor Him and submit to Him, He gives true wisdom. There is a wisdom of this world that is earthly and self focused, and it leads to envy and strife and is ultimately foolishness before God. The world in its wisdom did not come to know God. But the wisdom that comes from above is different. It is pure and peaceable, patient and gentle, full of mercy and good fruit. You can recognize it by what it produces in a life. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification.
That is why your request for wisdom as a nurse is so right. Like Solomon who asked God for wisdom to care for others rather than asking for riches or honor, and God was pleased to give it, you can ask God for wisdom and He gives generously. True wisdom will shape your hands and heart with patience and compassion, and it will be a defense and a source of life.
We join you in praying for this dear patient. We ask the Lord to remove discomfort, weakness, fear and discouragement, and to restore appetite, strength and courage. We pray that God will renew body and mind, restore confidence, and help this one to take willing steps in personal care and nutrition. Our hope rests on His promise, I will restore health unto thee and I will heal thee of thy wounds, Jeremiah 30:17. Wisdom gives life to those who have it, and the Lord is able to restore health, to lift the spirit, and to rebuild independence day by day.
