Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for wisdom and stability in your work is heard, and it is good that you want to honor God in the way you do your job with excellence and humility.
The story of Job speaks directly to what you are asking. Job was a man who sought to live uprightly before God, and God Himself took notice of him. At the same time, the enemy had been watching Job closely, studying him and forming a way to accuse him, claiming his faithfulness was only because he had been blessed. That same pattern is still present today. In a workplace, there can be hidden motives, pride, deception and unfair attacks that you cannot see, and the enemy will use those things to test and accuse. It is right to ask God to expose what is hidden around you.
It is also right, as you have prayed, to ask God to reveal anything in your own heart that needs correction. Job did not understand all that was happening to him, and his friends were quick to accuse him falsely, calling him a hypocrite and saying his suffering must mean he had done wrong. Their counsel only added confusion. Job knew that God is fair and just, even when he could not understand his circumstances. In the same way, not every criticism against you is true, but a humble heart remains open to the Lord's correction. True wisdom, as Job came to learn, is found in the fear of the Lord and in turning away from evil. That reverence for God is the beginning of discernment in daily decisions, in relationships, and in how you handle pressure.
Be encouraged that God is still sovereign and He sets a boundary around His people. Even when it feels as though God has stepped back, He is at work for your good and will comfort those who trust Him through difficulty. He is the one who can protect your work, your reputation and your relationships when others may misjudge you.
Your desire for stable and secure employment where you can serve faithfully and grow is a diligent and godly desire. As you quoted, the plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance. God honors steady, faithful, thoughtful work done unto Him.
We pray with you now. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we ask You to grant wisdom, humility and clear discernment for this daily work. Give skill and excellence, and guard the heart from pride. Bring into the light every hidden motive, every deception and every unfair attack, and at the same time search the heart and show what needs to be corrected. Protect the work of these hands, guard reputation and relationships, and establish stable and secure employment where You can be honored, service can be faithful, and growth can continue for Your glory. Teach the fear of the Lord which is wisdom, and the turning from evil which is understanding, and let diligence be blessed according to Your Word. Amen.
