Prayer for wisdom and job stability

Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, give me wisdom, excellence, humility, and discernment in my job. Expose every hidden motive, pride, deception, or unfair attack, while also revealing anything in me that needs correction. Protect my work, reputation, and relationships. Establish me in stable and secure employment where I can serve faithfully, grow professionally, and honour You. As Your Word says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” — Proverbs 21:5. Amen.

We join with you in this prayer for wisdom and stability in your work, and we are encouraged by the humility and sincerity of your request. You have asked not only for protection from unfair attacks and hidden motives around you, but also for God to reveal anything in you that needs correction, and that is a godly and humble posture. God honors such humility.

The Scriptures teach us that wisdom comes from God and that He gives generously to those who ask. James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. We also are reminded that our work itself is to be an offering to the Lord. Colossians 3:23 says, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men. And Proverbs 16:3 says, Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed. When we commit our work to Him and labor diligently, Proverbs 21:5 is true in our lives, The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit. We also pray Psalm 90:17 over you, Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us. Establish the work of our hands for us. Yes, establish the work of our hands.

We rejoice that you came through Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Your faith in His name is the foundation for every prayer to be heard.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together through Jesus Christ our Lord, and we lift up this dear one to You. Grant wisdom, excellence, humility and discernment in every task and decision. Let Your Spirit guide every word and action, and humble this heart under Your mighty hand, for 1 Peter 5:6 says, Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Expose every hidden motive, pride, deception or unfair attack, for Luke 8:17 says, For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light. At the same time, search this heart and reveal anything that needs correction, that there may be growth in holiness and character. Protect this one's work, reputation and relationships from harm and slander. Establish steady and secure employment where faithfulness, professional growth and service to You can flourish. Let diligence and integrity be seen, and let favor rest upon the work of these hands, that in all things You may be honored. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and mediator. We encourage you to continue to walk diligently and humbly, committing each day's work to the Lord, seeking His wisdom first, and trusting Him to establish your steps. He who is faithful in small things will be entrusted with more, and He will be your defender and your provider.

One practice that may help you live out what you prayed: at the start of each week write down two or three main responsibilities where you most want wisdom and diligence, and note one question you could ask a trusted supervisor or mature colleague for feedback. It keeps you focused and teachable, and it gives you a clear record of faithful effort if your work is ever questioned.

Father, in Jesus name we bring our brother before You. Grant wisdom, humility and discernment for each decision and conversation at work. Your prayer is a wise and humble one, and we join with you in presenting it before the throne of grace through Jesus Christ our Lord, for there is no other name by which we may come to the Father.

You ask for wisdom, excellence, humility and discernment in your daily labour, and this is to ask for that which man cannot mine for himself. As Job was taught, though men dig deep into the earth for gold and silver, the path of wisdom remains hidden from the keen eye and the strong hand. It is not found by our own strength or our own conceit, for there is not much more wisdom in man's judgment of God than in the judgment of a fly concerning greater things. True wisdom is with God, and He giveth it liberally to them that ask Him in the fear of the Lord. We pray that He will grant you that heavenly wisdom which sees clearly, judges righteously, and walks humbly.

You have done well to ask that every hidden motive, pride and deception should be exposed, and also that anything in your own heart that needs correction should be revealed. This was the spirit of Job when, after the Lord had spoken, he saw himself more clearly and retracted his words, confessing that he had darkened counsel by words without knowledge. It is never wise to dispute with God, but it is the part of a gracious man to say, Let God be true and let me be searched and tried by Him. So we pray that the Lord will give you an honest heart, to bear correction meekly, to sin not with your lips when tried, and to worship still though the providence be hard, as Job did when he fell upon the ground and worshipped and in all this sinned not.

You ask also for protection of your work, your reputation and your relationships, and for stable and secure employment where you may serve faithfully and honour Him. We remember how Job's glory was fresh in him for a season, and then withered, that we might learn not to lay up our treasure where moth and rust doth corrupt, but to get the feet of our joy upon the Rock of Ages. Yet the Lord in His mercy turned again the captivity of Job, and gave him twice as much as he had before, to show that our longest sorrows have a close when God has gotten His end in them. We pray that He will establish the work of your hands, guard you from unfair attack and from the tongue of the unkind, and keep you diligent in all that is committed to you, for as you have well quoted, the plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.

Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ Thy Son, we ask for this Thy servant. Bestow upon him wisdom from above, with excellence and humility and a discerning spirit in all his labour. Search him and try him, expose every hidden motive of pride or deception round about him, and reveal to him whatsoever in himself would hinder Thy grace, that he may be corrected and made more like Christ. Cover his work and his good name, keep his relationships in peace, and in Thy providence establish him in stable and fruitful employment where he may serve with faithfulness, grow in his calling, and honour Thee in all diligence and integrity. Grant that whether Thou givest or withholdest temporal increase, his heart may rest upon Christ alone, who is our sure foundation. Hear this prayer for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.
