Beloved of All
We are joining you in prayer for this person who is walking through both spiritual battle and deep heartbreak.
Scripture makes it clear that the real war is between the flesh and the spirit. The flesh and the spirit are contrary to one another, and victory does not come by trying harder in our own strength. We mortify the deeds of the flesh by the power of the Holy Spirit, and when we walk in the Spirit and are led by the Spirit we will not fulfill the desires of the flesh. That is where true deliverance and freedom are found, not in our own resolve but in being filled and controlled and empowered by the Spirit of God.
For someone who has been under a controlling and deceptive influence and is now nursing a broken heart, that need is very personal. God meets us in the realm of the spirit. He is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth. When we are born again our spirit is made alive, and the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. That witness brings assurance that we are loved, that we belong to Him, and that we are heirs with Christ. Out of that assurance He can heal the brokenhearted and restore peace. To be spiritually minded is life and peace, and as we sow to the Spirit through His Word, which is Spirit and life, and through prayer and fellowship with Him, we reap of the Spirit.
We also remember that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not always know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us. You can trust Him to intercede for this dear one even when words fail. And the Spirit always points to Jesus. We test what is of God by whether it confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh and by whether it bears witness to Jesus and produces His fruit in us, which is love. Any spirit that draws away from Christ or stirs up control, manipulation, impurity or confusion is not from God, for God is not the author of confusion but of peace.
Our prayer is that God will fill this person afresh with His Holy Spirit, lead them by His Spirit, and anoint them for the walk ahead. We ask that by the Spirit they would have power to turn from what is not of God and to walk in what is holy and true, that the Lord would heal the wound of heartbreak with His love and comfort, and that the mind would be set on the things of the Spirit and on fellowship with God. We pray that the fruit of the Spirit, especially love, would grow strong in their life as evidence of His indwelling presence.
We ask the Father to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him, to grant discernment, to bring complete healing and restoration, and to manifest His power and gifts as He wills and as He divides to each one for the profit of all, all according to His sovereign wisdom. May this one know deeply that they are a child of God, kept and led by Him, and may they experience the life and victory that comes from walking in the Spirit day by day in Jesus name.
