Prayer for true repentance and forgiveness

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for me to be forgiven for all my sins, and truly repent to the Lord. I've been water baptized a few years back but I fell into a habitual sin again, losing my desire to pray. Please pray for me to come to the Lord with a broken heart and repentance. Pray for me to be annointed by the Holy Spirit and the power of speaking in tongues. Please pray for this verse be fulfilled in my life today [ Job 22:23 If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. ] as I pray and get back all my lost blessings because of me running away from God.

We hear your cry for true repentance and forgiveness, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your heart to the Lord. Your honesty about falling into habitual sin and losing your desire to pray is a courageous first step toward restoration. The Word of God assures us, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). The Lord does not turn away a broken and contrite heart, He draws near to it (Psalm 34:18).

Your desire to return to the Almighty and be built up, as Job 22:23 promises, is a beautiful longing that aligns with God’s will for you. Repentance is not just sorrow over sin but a turning away from it and toward God with a renewed heart. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that may whisper to you that your sin is too great or that God’s mercy has run out. The truth is, "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness" (Psalm 103:8). His arms are open wide to receive you as you come to Him in humility.

We also lift up your request for the anointing of the Holy Spirit and the gift of speaking in tongues. The Holy Spirit is our Helper, our Comforter, and the One who empowers us to walk in righteousness (John 14:26). If it is God’s will for you to speak in tongues, He will grant you this gift as you seek Him with a sincere heart. But let us remind you that the greatest gift is not a manifestation of the Spirit but a heart fully surrendered to Christ. The apostle Paul wrote, "Follow after love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy" (1 Corinthians 14:1). Love for God and others must be the foundation of all we seek.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister in Christ, lifting up their cry for true repentance and forgiveness. Lord, we thank You for Your unfailing love and mercy, which are new every morning. We ask that You would break any hardness of heart and remove any hindrance that keeps them from fully turning to You. Father, we pray that You would anoint them afresh with Your Holy Spirit, filling them with Your power and presence. Grant them the gift of speaking in tongues if it is Your will, but above all, fill them with a hunger for Your Word and a passion to walk in obedience to You.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of condemnation and shame that may be weighing on their heart. Your Word says, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit" (Romans 8:1). We declare that our brother/sister is forgiven, cleansed, and restored in the name of Jesus. We pray that You would rebuild what has been broken and restore the blessings that have been lost due to disobedience. May they experience the fullness of Your joy and peace as they walk closely with You once again.

Father, we ask that You would strengthen their prayer life and draw them into deeper intimacy with You. May they find their delight in You alone, and may their heart’s desire be to please You in all things. We pray that You would surround them with godly fellowship and accountability, so they may grow in faith and holiness. Lord, we thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust that as they seek You with all their heart, they will find You (Jeremiah 29:13).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps toward restoration. Begin by setting aside time each day to read God’s Word and pray, even if it feels difficult at first. Confess your sins specifically to the Lord, and ask Him to reveal any areas of your life that need to change. Seek out a trusted, mature believer who can walk alongside you in accountability and prayer. Remember, "He who covers his sins doesn’t prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy" (Proverbs 28:13).

You are not alone in this journey. The Lord is with you, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep pressing into Him, and do not grow weary in doing what is right. Your heavenly Father is waiting with open arms to welcome you back into His embrace.

I agree for this in Jesus' Name

We’ve been lifting you up in prayer since we read your request, and we want you to know how much God loves you right now, exactly where you are. It takes real courage to face the distance we’ve created in our hearts, and we’re so glad you’re choosing to turn back to Him. The enemy would love to keep us stuck in shame, but Jesus paid too high a price for that. He’s already waiting with open arms, ready to rebuild what’s broken and restore what’s been lost.

We’ve been praying that your heart would soften in these moments, that the Holy Spirit would melt away any hardness so you can truly repent, not just feeling bad, but turning away from what’s holding you back and toward the Lord with your whole heart. And if speaking in tongues is something He’s placed on your heart, we trust He’ll make it clear in His timing. But even more than gifts, we want you to hunger for Him again, to find your joy in His presence the way you once did.

Lord, we thank You that You don’t wait for us to be perfect to welcome us home. We ask that You’d meet our brother/sister right where they are today, wash them clean, renew their spirit, and fill them with a fresh fire for You. Let them feel Your peace in a way that drives out the heaviness they’ve carried. Surround them with people who’ll encourage them, and let their prayer life come alive again in ways that surprise and bless them. Restore their trust in You, Lord, and help them walk in the freedom that only comes through Christ.

In the name of Jesus.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want to thank you for the humility and honesty with which you shared your heart, allowing us to join you in seeking the Lord’s mercy and restoration. It has been our privilege to stand with you in prayer for true repentance, forgiveness, and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit in your life. We have prayed earnestly that the Lord would draw you back with cords of love, break every chain of habitual sin, and restore the joy of your salvation. We asked Him to anoint you afresh with the power of the Holy Spirit, including the gift of speaking in tongues as a sign of His presence and empowerment. Most of all, we have lifted up Job 22:23 before the throne of grace, asking God to rebuild what has been torn down and to remove iniquity far from your life as you return to Him with a broken and contrite heart.

If the Lord has answered these prayers in any way—if you’ve experienced His forgiveness, felt His presence more deeply, or seen even a small step toward restoration—we would be so encouraged to hear your praise report. Your testimony could strengthen others who are struggling in similar ways. If, however, you are still waiting on the Lord’s full deliverance, please know that we are not finished praying. We invite you to post this request again so we can continue to intercede for you, believing that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in you.

May the Lord bless you abundantly as you press into Him. May He meet you in your brokenness, lift you up in His grace, and restore all that has been lost. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
