Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for those touched by this boat accident is heard, and we join you in bringing both the survivors and the grieving families before the Lord.
For those who were spared, we pray for the healing you asked for in body, mind and heart. The Lord is the healer, and He heals in different ways. At times His touch is felt in a moment, instant and undeniable. At other times healing comes gradually through the processes He has built into our bodies, and that gradual restoration is no less from His hand. Every true healing is divine. We also recognize that wounds are not only physical. There are deep marks left on the mind and emotions, trauma and fear that linger, and the Lord is able to heal those inward places as well. Healing remains sovereign in His hands, and we do not always understand why He heals one and not another, but we can trust His wisdom and goodness. So we ask Him to complete the work He has begun in each survivor, to quiet fear, to mend what is broken, and to show them that their lives are held with purpose in His hands. May He surround them and their families with the peace that passes understanding and provide for every need as they recover.
For the families who have lost loved ones, we pray that you will know the Lord as the God of all comfort. That is His name for those who walk through dark and difficult places. He comforts those who mourn, those who are cast down and overwhelmed by sorrow. He stood by His people in the midst of long storms when they could not see the sun, and He stands by His people still in the darkest night. Grief like this is great and deep, and sometimes there are no words that help. Scripture shows friends who simply sat in silence when they saw how great the sorrow was. In that silence the Lord Himself draws near to comfort, to strengthen and to encourage. He is patient and faithful to His promises, and the comfort of His Word gives hope because He has never failed to come through for His people.
We entrust those who have died to the mercy and perfect justice of God. For those who belonged to Jesus Christ, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, at peace in His presence where He wipes away every tear. Salvation is through Christ alone, and we rest the souls of all who died in the hands of a compassionate and righteous Judge who does what is right. For the children, parents, husbands and wives left behind, we ask the Father of mercies to give daily strength, to hold them in their pain, and to let His presence bring peace where there is now only hurt.
Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we lift to You every survivor of this accident. Lay Your healing hand upon them. Restore their bodies, calm their minds, heal their hearts from trauma and fear, and let them know they are kept for Your purpose. Surround them and their families with Your peace and protection. And Father, we lift to You every family that mourns. Comfort them as only You can. Give strength for each day, wipe their tears, and draw near in their sorrow. We place the souls of those who have died into Your hands, trusting Your perfect mercy and justice, and asking that the hope of Christ would be their confidence and the comfort of those who remain. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
