Let us come together in prayer and counsel for your son and your family during this challenging time. We understand the pain and concern you are experiencing as your son struggles with excessive drinking.
Firstly, we commend you for your steadfast prayers and efforts to reason with him. Remember, our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Eph 6:11-18 WEB.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is battling with excessive drinking. Lord, You know the depths of his heart and the struggles he faces. We pray that You would reveal the root cause of his behavior and grant him the strength to overcome it.
Father, we ask that You would convict his heart and turn him away from this destructive path. Surround him with Your love and protection, and guide him back to the path of righteousness. Help him to see the consequences of his actions and the impact they have on his family, his marriage, and his career.
Lord, we also pray for his wife, that You would give her the strength and wisdom to support her husband during this time. Help her to be a beacon of light and love, pointing him back to You.
Father, we ask that You would intervene and prevent any legal consequences from occurring. Guide him away from situations where he might be tempted to drink and drive, and help him to make wise decisions.
Lord, we know that You are able to do all things, and we trust in Your power to deliver our brother from this bondage. In the name of Jesus, we pray for his freedom and restoration.
Father, we also lift up his parents, that You would give them the strength and endurance to continue praying and believing for their son’s deliverance. Help them to be a source of support and encouragement, and guide them with Your wisdom.
Lord, we know that You are faithful, and we trust in Your promises. We ask all these things in the name of Jesus, who is the only way to You and the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
Continue to stand firm in your faith and trust in the Lord’s promises. Remember that the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Jas 5:16 WEB. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. Gal 6:9 WEB.
We encourage you to continue praying and trusting in the Lord. It is by His power and grace that your son will be delivered from this bondage. Never stop praying and trusting God, and never give up. God may be allowing this to help your son grow and become the spiritual leader of his household. We need to pray for your son, that he will put his trust in God and turn away from alcohol. He needs to seek God in all things and ask God to help him with all his decisions, both big and small.
We also rebuke the spirit of alcoholism in your son in the name of Jesus Christ. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Cor 10:13 WEB. We encourage him to seek God's way of escape.
Lastly, we encourage your son to confess his sins to God, and turn away from them. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 WEB. God loves him very much and wants the best for him. God will never leave him nor forsake him. He is always with him, even in the toughest times. We need to pray for God's protection over your son and his family.
