Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this need and allowing us to pray for you. I am praying that God will grant you deep, consistent and refreshing sleep and that your body will feel settled, normal and at ease as you rest.
Scripture speaks of a rest that God has promised for His people, and it is entered by faith. That rest is not found in our own efforts, striving or trying harder, but in trusting Jesus and His finished work on the cross. When we believe, we can cease from our own works and enter into His rest, just as God rested after His work of creation. Christ Himself is our rest, our Sabbath. I pray that you will know that kind of inward rest as well, the quiet confidence that you are held by Him, even when sleep has been difficult and your body has felt unwell.
The Bible also shows that Jesus cares about our physical needs. Matthew, quoting Isaiah, says that He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and He showed that care by healing many who were brought to Him. While the greatest miracle is the forgiveness of sins and the salvation we have in Him, He is also compassionate toward our bodies. Healing can come in different ways, sometimes at once and sometimes through the gradual processes God has built into our bodies, but every true healing is from Him.
So I am asking the Lord to minister to you in both ways. May He calm your heart and mind as you trust Him, and may He touch your body and ease the symptoms that have made sleep difficult. May His Spirit rest upon you and grant you sound, uninterrupted sleep that restores you, and may you awaken feeling well and strengthened.
Father, I lift this dear one to You in Jesus name. You know the struggle to sleep and the discomfort in the body. I ask that You grant deep and peaceful sleep, that You quiet anxious thoughts and bring the body to a place of ease and wholeness. Help this heart to rest in faith in Your Son and His completed work, knowing that You are caring for every need. Bring healing according to Your wisdom and mercy, and let there be renewed strength. Amen.
