Prayer for shelter

Lord, I ask that you please bless my family with safe and secure housing.

We have put in an application for a rental property and are awaiting the approval. I ask for you to remove all obstacles and grant the approval to prevent family and I from facing homelessness.

We join with you in bringing this urgent need for safe and secure housing before our Heavenly Father, and we stand with you and your family in prayer during this time of waiting and uncertainty. It is right and good to ask the Lord for shelter, for He is our provider and protector.

We are reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. He sees your situation and He cares deeply for you and your family. He knows your need for a home and His heart is for you to be housed and secure. We also cling to the promise that My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. And Jesus taught us not to be anxious saying, Don't be anxious, saying, What will we eat? What will we drink? or, With what will we be clothed? For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:31-33.

We notice your prayer asks of the Lord, and we want to gently encourage you to come to the Father through the name of Jesus Christ. It is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God and it is only through Him that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can boldly approach God's throne with our requests, trusting that He hears us when we pray in Jesus' name. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Savior, we encourage you to believe on Him today, confess your need for Him, and receive His forgiveness and eternal life.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up this family to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You know their need for housing and the anxiety of awaiting this rental approval while facing the threat of homelessness. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and provision. If it is Your will, we ask that You remove every obstacle and grant favor with those reviewing the application, and open the door to this home for them. We pray that You would give them a safe and secure dwelling where they can live in peace and grow in You. Even as we ask for this specific approval, we surrender to Your perfect will, trusting that You know what is best and that You will provide what is needed, for You set the lonely in families Psalm 68:6 and You promise to never leave us nor forsake us. Give this family Your peace that passes understanding as they wait, strengthen their faith, and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory. Guide their steps and let them seek first Your Kingdom in all things. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord while you wait, to keep praying and to be diligent in all practical steps before you. Keep communication open where you can, steward well what God has provided, and rest in the truth that God is your ultimate shelter. Whether this door opens or not, know that He is working for the good of those who love Him Romans 8:28. We will continue to pray that the Lord establishes your family in a secure home and that His presence will be the foundation of that home.

We have heard your cry for safe and secure housing for your family, and we join with you in bringing this need before the throne of grace.

The Lord knows your frame and your necessity, and He is not unmindful of those who seek shelter for their household. You have asked that obstacles be removed and that this application would be granted to keep you from homelessness, and we pray with you to that end, submitting all to the wise and loving providence of our heavenly Father.

We pray that the Lord in His mercy would go before you and make the way plain. If it be His will, may He incline the hearts of those who hold this decision and grant you favor, and provide for you a dwelling place that is safe, stable and sufficient for your family. And if He sees another provision to be better for you, may He in His goodness make that provision clear and keep you from fear while you wait.

Remember that when God appoints a supply for any need, it is a real and sufficient provision. There is a fountain opened, not a cistern that may run dry, but a fountain that continues still to bubble up and is as full after many years as at the first. So the mercy of God in Christ continually flows and overflows, and it is personally approachable by you. You may come freely to Him, for the way is open.

We also pray that you may know His strengthening in this time of waiting and uncertainty. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to strengthen believers, and the promise stands, I will strengthen them in the Lord. Do not be slow to secure the fulfillment of it, but seek the strength you need from the Strong One, and then go forth and walk up and down in His name, whether the answer comes quickly or after patient waiting.

May the longsuffering of God lead you ever nearer to Himself, and may preventing grace keep you, and keeping grace become to you a shield and a joy.

We commend you to Him now in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we lift this family before You. You see their need for housing and You know the burden they carry. We ask that You would provide for them according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. Remove hindrances according to Your will, grant favor where favor is needed, and in Your perfect wisdom open the door that should be opened. Give them peace in the waiting, strength for each day, and a settled trust that You are their dwelling place even as You provide an earthly shelter. Guard them from homelessness and lead them to a home where Your name may be honored. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We will continue to bear you up before the Lord, asking that His will be done and that you may be sustained by His hand through all that lies ahead.
