Thank you for sharing your request and allowing us to pray with you in Jesus name. We are bringing both needs before the Lord, the surgery and the decision before you about self employment.
It is understandable to feel the weight of wanting to choose rightly and not to make a wrong step when two paths are before you. God understands that desire and He invites you to ask Him for what you need most in this moment, which is wisdom.
Scripture teaches that wisdom is the principal thing, more valuable than rubies or riches, and that nothing you could desire compares to it. Knowledge can give you facts about each scheme, what each one offers, what each one requires, but wisdom gives you the ability to use those facts rightly and to see the path that leads to life. Wisdom is better than wealth because wealth is a defense for a moment, but wisdom gives life to those who have it and it will preserve and keep you in the way you should go.
The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord, a humble heart that wants to honor Him above personal gain and that is willing to be taught. When Solomon was given opportunity to ask for anything, he did not ask for money or fame but asked for an understanding heart to judge rightly, and the Lord was pleased with that prayer. The Lord still delights to give wisdom generously when His children ask. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He speaks to us as wisdom crying out in the open, inviting everyone to come and partake of what He has prepared. You do not have to find wisdom on your own. You can ask for it and He will pour out His Spirit of wisdom upon you.
There is a difference between the wisdom of this world and the wisdom that comes from above. The wisdom of the world often measures only by what seems most profitable or impressive, but it comes to nothing and can lead to striving and confusion. The wisdom from above is pure and peaceable and leads to a life that is steady and pleasing to God. As you weigh these two schemes, bring them before the Lord not only with the question which will provide more, but which will allow you to walk uprightly, to provide faithfully, to keep a clear conscience, and to bear good fruit.
God also gives wisdom through counsel. Without counsel purposes are disappointed, but with many counselors they are established. Seek the input of mature believers who know you, who know the Word, and who can help you think prudently about the practical details, the risks, and the responsibilities of each option. Wisdom dwells with prudence and gives insight for practical matters and for making wise plans.
We are praying for you that the God of all wisdom will grant you wisdom and understanding, that He will make your path clear and give you peace in the decision you make. We are also praying for the surgery, for the Lord's hand upon those who provide care, for protection, for healing, and for His comfort and strength to be upon you and those who love you.
Father, we lift this need to You in the name of Jesus. Grant wisdom liberally to Your child who is seeking to honor You in this decision. Give clarity concerning these two ways of support into self employment, show what is right, and establish the work of their hands as they trust in You. We ask also for Your mercy and help in the surgery, for skill, for safety, and for restoration. Lead and keep this one in Your perfect will. Amen.
