Prayer for ###'s surgery

We join with you in lifting up your loved one for surgery and we also bring before the Lord your request for peace of mind regarding the song that remains in your memory.

We are comforted that you have come in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is through Him we have access to the Father. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5 and In no other is there salvation, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. We thank God that you have called upon that name.

For the surgery, we pray for the Lord's healing hand and for His wisdom to guide the surgeons and all who provide care. We remember the promise, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, Jeremiah 30:17 and Yahweh will sustain him on his sickbed, and restore him from his bed of illness, Psalm 41:3. We ask for a successful procedure, for freedom from complications, for relief from pain and anxiety, and for a swift and complete recovery that gives glory to God. We also pray for peace for you and for your family as you wait, remembering, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10.

For the sound of the song that lingers in your memory, we understand how distracting and wearying an unwanted thought or melody can be. We pray that the Lord will quiet your mind and renew your thoughts. We ask Him to bring the peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. We pray that He will help you to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5 and to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2.

We encourage you to gently replace that unwanted sound with what is pleasing to God. Whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think about these things, Philippians 4:8. When the melody comes, we encourage you to turn intentionally to prayer, to speak scripture aloud, to sing a hymn or worship song to the Lord, and to meditate on His Word, trusting that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3.

We pray together, Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one facing surgery to Your throne of grace. We ask You to be present in the operating room, to guide every hand, to grant skill and discernment to the medical team, and to bring healing according to Your will. Comfort this one with Your presence, remove fear, and let Your peace rest upon them and upon all who love them. We also lift up the request for a clear and quiet mind. Lord, You know the sound that lingers and how it troubles memory. We ask You to remove its hold and to fill the mind with Your truth, Your songs, and Your peace. Renew and restore, Lord, and help Your child to fix their thoughts on You. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ, our healer and our peace, amen.

We are joining you in prayer for ### and for you as you carry this worry.

It is a caring thing to lift a loved one before surgery, and we understand wanting a quiet mind while you wait and pray for them. Having a song loop in your memory can be wearying, especially when you are already anxious for someone you love. It makes sense you would ask the Lord for relief and peace.

As you support ###, it can help to stay close to the medical team and ask how you can best be there in the days before and after surgery, whether that is helping with practical needs, being present, or simply continuing to pray. For the song that keeps returning, many find it gentler not to fight it forcefully, but to quietly turn the moment into a brief prayer when it comes, and then return to what is in front of you. If it continues to feel intrusive or distressing, it can help to talk it through with a trusted pastor or counselor alongside prayer.

Father, we lift ### to You before surgery and ask for Your care over the doctors and for healing and peace. We also lift our friend to You and ask for quietness of mind and rest from this song that has been stuck in memory. Give comfort, steady trust, and Your peace in these days. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your petition and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace, where our Lord waits to be gracious.

You ask for one who faces the surgeon's hand, and for deliverance from a sound that troubles the memory. We will pray that the Great Physician, who has healing beneath His wings, will guide the hands of those who minister in the surgery and grant a favorable outcome according to His wise and loving will. We remember that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and that even the least thing about Christ has healing virtue for body and soul.

For the distress of mind, we point you to that precious promise, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee. When the mind is stayed upon Christ, the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even when cares press and memories intrude. Acquaint thyself with God and be at peace. Meditate on His law day and night, let His Word dwell richly in you, and let the songs of deliverance which the Lord Himself gives displace every vain or troubling sound. It is by filling the heart with Christ that the mind finds rest.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone we have access and salvation, we ask Thy mercy upon the one who must undergo surgery. Be present in that room, grant skill and wisdom, and restore to health as it pleases Thee. Grant also perfect peace to this troubled mind. Still the intruding sound, quiet the thoughts, and keep the heart stayed upon Thee. Let Thy peace which passeth all understanding guard heart and mind through Christ Jesus. May there be healing and pardon, comfort and rest, for Thy glory. Amen.

Continue to trust Him, to cast your care upon Him, and to declare the works of the Lord who delivers from the pit and ransoms His people.

We have heard your prayer for the surgery and for relief from the song that stays in your memory, and we join you in bringing both needs before the Lord.

Scripture teaches that the Church is a spiritual surgery, where whatever wounds we have received outside may be healed, not a place to gather fresh wounds to take away with us. In the same way we ask the Great Physician to be present in the operating room, to give skill and wisdom to the surgeons and all who care for you, to grant a safe procedure and a complete healing according to His mercy. We pray that He will give you peace before, during and after the surgery, and restore you to health for His glory.

Concerning the sound that troubles your memory, you have asked well. The Scriptures show us the great profit that comes from what we hear. If you examine yourself you will see what you become by hearing Psalms and what you become by listening to a song that does not honor God, and how different the soul is when it stays in the Church and when it lingers where evil communications corrupt good manners. For this reason we have need continually of those songs which serve as charms from the Spirit, the Psalms and hymns of Scripture, by which we are renewed.

God is able to cleanse and renew the mind, and we ask Him to do so for you. At the same time He calls us not to be careless hearers who go home bearing nothing with us, but to fill the memory little by little with what is good, so that it is not easily overloaded and does not hold fast to what harms us. When an unhelpful song returns, turn at once to the Psalms, read them aloud, pray them, and let them dwell in your heart. Avoid returning to the places and sounds that feed that memory, and stay close to the fellowship and teaching of the Church where healing is given.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone and that we may come to You in His name. We ask for Your hand upon this surgery, for protection, for wisdom for the medical team, and for healing and strength in recovery. We ask also that You would quiet and cleanse this troubled memory, remove the sound that distresses, and fill the mind with Your Word and with songs that give You praise. Renew our thoughts and help us to remember what is pure and lovely and true. Grant peace that guards heart and mind in Christ Jesus. In Jesus Christ's name we pray, amen.
