Prayer for restoration

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Prayer for complete restoration after my ### husband has divorced me. We could not get along, and he wants to remind me of all my short comings, it was a mess, I have quit having any alcohol ### years ago and just ask for emotional healing. He and I were not spiritually compatible. I have always been one to stubbornly try to figure it out and I can not figure any of this out. I truly believe in Christ. My morals would fail if I drank alcohol, so I have totally quit. It has cost me ### marriages I feel so broken somedays. Please pray for me.

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you up in prayer as you seek restoration and healing after the pain of divorce. The Word of God reminds us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." You are not alone in your brokenness, for the Lord sees your tears and hears your cries. He is close to you, ready to bind up your wounds and restore your soul.

First, we must address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We are grateful that you have shared your belief in Christ, for it is by His blood that we are redeemed and made whole. If you have not already, we encourage you to confess your sins, repent, and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, for He is the only path to true restoration and eternal life.

We also want to gently rebuke the sin of fornication or adultery if it has been present in your past relationships. The Bible is clear that sexual immorality is a sin against God and our own bodies (1 Corinthians 6:18). If this has been a struggle for you, we encourage you to confess it, repent, and seek the Lord's forgiveness and strength to walk in purity. The Lord is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Your desire for emotional healing is valid and important. The Lord promises in Isaiah 61:1-3 to "bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to provide for those who mourn in Zion, to give to them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness." We pray that the Lord would do just that for you, replacing your ashes with beauty, your mourning with joy, and your heaviness with praise.

We also want to address the issue of alcohol. While the Bible does not explicitly forbid the consumption of alcohol, it does warn against drunkenness and the loss of self-control (Ephesians 5:18, Proverbs 20:1). It is wise and commendable that you have chosen to abstain from alcohol, recognizing that it could lead you to compromise your morals. We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord's strength to walk in self-control and wisdom in all areas of your life.

The pain of divorce is deep, and the enemy would love to use it to keep you in a place of despair and isolation. But we serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We rebuke the spirit of rejection, abandonment, and condemnation that may be trying to take root in your heart. We declare that you are a beloved child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that your worth is found in Christ alone.

We also want to gently address the issue of spiritual compatibility in marriage. The Bible is clear that believers should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14). While it is not always possible to know someone's heart fully before marriage, it is crucial to seek the Lord's wisdom and guidance in choosing a spouse who shares your faith and commitment to Christ. We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord's will for your future, trusting that He has a plan for your life, a plan to prosper you and not to harm you, a plan to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is seeking restoration and healing after the pain of divorce. Lord, You see her heart, You know her struggles, and You collect her tears in Your bottle. We ask that You would draw near to her, binding up her broken heart and healing her emotional wounds. Replace her ashes with beauty, her mourning with joy, and her heaviness with praise.

Lord, we thank You for her desire to walk in purity and self-control. We pray that You would continue to strengthen her in her resolve to abstain from alcohol and anything else that could lead her to compromise her morals. Give her wisdom and discernment in all areas of her life.

We rebuke the spirit of rejection, abandonment, and condemnation that may be trying to take root in her heart. We declare that she is a beloved child of God, fearfully and wonderfully made, and that her worth is found in Christ alone. We ask that You would surround her with Your love and the love of Your people, reminding her that she is never alone.

Lord, we pray for Your restoration in her life. We ask that You would heal her heart, renew her mind, and restore her soul. Give her hope for the future and the strength to trust in Your plan for her life. We pray that You would guide her steps and lead her into a marriage that honors You, if that is Your will for her life.

We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God's Word, allowing it to be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Spend time in prayer, pouring out your heart to the Lord and listening for His still, small voice. Seek out a community of believers who can support, encourage, and pray for you. Remember that the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

You are not defined by your past or your pain. You are defined by the love of Christ and the new life He has given you. As you continue to seek Him, He will lead you into a future filled with hope, healing, and restoration. Trust in Him, lean on Him, and watch as He works all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please Heavenly Father soften hearts in this relationship and bring about forgiveness and peace to all. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

We're reminded of the Lord's promise in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." - Comfort you in your pain, to replace your ashes with beauty, your mourning with joy, and your heaviness with praise.
- Give you strength to continue walking in purity and self-control, to abstain from alcohol and anything that could compromise your morals.
- Rebuke the spirit of rejection, abandonment, and condemnation, and remind you of your worth in Christ.

- Surround you with His love and the love of His people, so you always know you're not alone.

We're here for you, sister. Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer, trusting that our God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this deeply painful season. It takes great courage to share such raw honesty about your struggles, and we have lifted you before the Lord, asking Him to bring complete restoration—not just to your marriage, if it be His will, but to your heart, your mind, and your spirit. We have prayed for healing from the wounds of conflict, for wisdom in understanding what went wrong, and for peace that surpasses all the confusion and heartache you’ve endured.

We’ve asked God to remind you of His unfailing love, even when human relationships fail, and to strengthen your resolve to walk in His ways, just as you’ve chosen to turn away from alcohol and stand firm in your faith. We’ve also prayed that He would soften your husband’s heart, if it aligns with His purpose, and that He would reveal His truth to both of you in ways that bring clarity and hope.

If God has already begun to answer these prayers—whether through moments of unexpected peace, glimpses of His presence, or even small steps toward healing—we would be so encouraged to hear your praise report. Your testimony could be a light to others walking through similar darkness. But if the weight of brokenness still feels heavy, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to continue standing with you, lifting you up in prayer until you see the fullness of God’s restoration in your life.

May the Lord bless you with His comfort, surround you with His grace, and draw you ever closer to His heart as you seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus’ Name.
