We rejoice with you in the love that the Lord has placed in your life, and we lift this relationship before Him with hearts full of hope and faith. It is clear that you deeply cherish this bond, and we pray that God’s will be done in every aspect of it. First, we must address the foundation of any relationship that seeks to honor God—it must be built upon His principles and guided by His Word.
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:14, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* If this relationship is not between two believers in Jesus Christ, we must gently but firmly encourage you to seek God’s wisdom and discernment. Marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is vital that both individuals are committed to following Him. If your beloved does not share your faith in Jesus, we urge you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship aligns with God’s best for you. The Lord may have someone for you who shares your devotion to Christ, and we pray that He would guide you in this matter.
If you are both believers, we rejoice in the potential for a godly marriage, but we must also address the importance of purity. The Bible is clear that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage alone. Hebrews 13:4 states, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers."* If there has been any sexual activity outside of marriage, we encourage you both to repent and seek God’s forgiveness, committing to live in holiness as you prepare for marriage. The Lord is faithful to forgive and restore (1 John 1:9), and we pray that He would strengthen you both to walk in purity.
We also lift up your desire for commitment, loyalty, and communication in this relationship. These are beautiful qualities that reflect God’s heart for marriage, and we pray that He would cultivate them in both of your hearts. Proverbs 18:22 says, *"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the Lord."* If marriage is God’s will for you both, we pray that He would confirm it in your hearts and lead you into a covenant that honors Him.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the love You have placed in this sister’s life. Lord, we ask that You would guide her and her beloved in Your perfect will. If this relationship is not aligned with Your Word, we pray that You would make that clear to them and give them the strength to follow Your leading. If it is Your will for them to marry, we ask that You would prepare their hearts, purify their intentions, and draw them closer to You and to one another. Father, we pray against any temptation to impurity or disobedience, and we ask that You would help them to honor You in every aspect of their relationship. Lord, we pray for open communication, deep love, and unwavering commitment in this relationship. May it reflect Your love for the Church and bring glory to Your name. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word, allowing Him to shape your desires and guide your steps. Trust in His timing and His plan, for He knows what is best for you. If you have not already, consider seeking godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers who can help you discern God’s will for this relationship. May the Lord bless you abundantly as you seek to honor Him in all things.
