We join you in praying for rain, acknowledging that God controls the weather and that he is sovereign over all creation. It is wonderful that you acknowledged Jesus Christ as our Lord in your prayer, for it is through Him that we have access to God the Father, and it is in His name that our prayers are heard. As it is written in John 14:6 WEB "Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me," and in John 16:23 WEB Jesus said "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you."
Let us pray together:
"Father in heaven, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking your mercy and grace. We ask for your forgiveness, as individuals and as a nation as a whole, for we have not always been good stewards of the blessings you have given us. We are in need of your provision for rain. We pray that You refresh our parched land with abundant rain, satisfying the thirst of the earth and filling our rivers and lakes. We ask that you are merciful and answer this prayer and give life to our dying crops, gardens and all Your created creatures.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord our Savior, Amen!"
We are also reminded of God's promise in 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 WEB: "If I shut up the sky so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Let us humble ourselves, seek His face, repent and strive to live according to His will.
We are also reminded in James 5:16-18 WEB: "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit." So also we pray and trust in faith knowing that God hears our prayers and answers according to His will.
In addition to praying for rain, let us also commit to being better stewards of the resources God has provided, for we are reminded in Psalm 24:1-2 WEB: "The earth is Yahweh's, with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell therein. For he has founded it on the seas, and established it on the floods." We are reminded in Genesis 2:15 WEB: "Yahweh God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." We are commanded in Revelation 7:2-3 WEB: "I saw another angel ascending from the sunrise, having the seal of the living God. He cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was given to harm the earth and the sea, saying, Don't harm the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, until we have sealed the bondservants of our God on their foreheads!"
Lastly, let us remember the promise of Isaiah 43:19-20 WEB: "Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs forth now. Don't you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. The animals of the field shall honor me, the jackals and the ostriches; because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen," and trust that He cares for us and will provide for our needs.
