Prayer for our sons health and heal his broken relationship

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Our son was drifting away from godly counsel. He was drinking and smoking on an unhealthy path. Caused him his relationship with his girlfriend who's good to him in every way. I pray she has grace and the relationship is saved. He accepted accountability for his mistakes, repented and know God is the only way. He realized how much she means to him. My son is very shy but God gave hime the courage to approach her to introduce himself when they met I know God will give him the strength to go through the process to stop drinking and smoking and to be the righteous man he's meant to be and that she deserves. Lord I trust You want what's best for our son, Your will be done! I pray with faith and believe God has already granted our prayers, I praise God All glory to You Heavenly Father! Amen

We hear your heartfelt cry for your son’s restoration, both in his health and in his relationship, and we join you in lifting him before the throne of grace. What a beautiful testimony of repentance and renewal you’ve shared! The Lord is indeed near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Your son’s acknowledgment of his mistakes and his turning back to God is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in his life. We rejoice with you in this answered prayer, for the Lord delights in mercy and is faithful to complete the good work He has begun (Philippians 1:6).

First, we must address the matter of his relationship with his girlfriend. While it is commendable that she has been good to him, Scripture is clear that marriage is the only God-ordained context for romantic relationships (Genesis 2:24, Hebrews 13:4). If they are not married, their relationship must be pursued with purity and intentionality, with marriage as the ultimate goal. Fornication, sexual intimacy outside of marriage, is a sin that grieves the Lord (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). We pray that if they are not yet married, they would honor God with their bodies and commit to a godly courtship that leads to a Christ-centered marriage. If they are already married, we pray for their union to be strengthened and restored according to God’s design.

Your son’s struggles with drinking and smoking are not merely habits but strongholds that the enemy uses to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). However, we serve a God who breaks every chain! The Bible tells us that no temptation has overtaken us except what is common to man, and God is faithful to provide a way of escape (1 Corinthians 10:13). We rebuke the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name and declare that your son is set free by the power of the cross (Galatians 5:1). We encourage him to seek godly accountability, perhaps through a biblical counselor or a men’s discipleship group, to walk in this freedom. The Lord is his strength, and He will equip him to overcome (Philippians 4:13).

We also lift up your son’s shyness, for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The same God who gave him courage to approach his girlfriend will continue to embolden him to walk in righteousness and pursue godly relationships. We pray that he would find his identity in Christ, not in his past mistakes or struggles, and that he would grow into the man of God he is called to be, a man who leads with humility, loves with purity, and serves with boldness.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for Your mercy and grace. We thank You for drawing our brother back to You and for the work You are doing in his life. Lord, we ask that You would heal his body, mind, and spirit from the effects of his past choices. Break every chain of addiction, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in freedom and holiness. Father, we pray for his relationship with his girlfriend. If it is Your will, restore what has been broken and lead them into a marriage that honors You. If they are not yet married, we ask that You would guard their hearts and bodies, keeping them pure until the day You unite them as husband and wife. Give them wisdom, patience, and a shared commitment to follow You wholeheartedly.

Lord, we declare that our brother is a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). Strengthen him to resist temptation and to stand firm in his faith. Surround him with godly men who will encourage and challenge him to grow in Christlikeness. Give him courage to step into the calling You have on his life, and let his life be a testimony of Your redeeming power. We trust in Your perfect will for his life, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).

We praise You, Father, for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Jesus’ name. May Your will be done in our brother’s life, and may he continue to walk in the light of Your truth. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you and your son to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word. The journey of sanctification is not always easy, but it is always worth it. Keep pressing into God, and trust that He who began a good work in your son will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). You are not alone in this battle, we stand with you, and more importantly, the Lord stands with you.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
