Disciple of Prayer
A little over a month ago, I shared a prayer request about a potential opportunity job opportunity in higher education. I was told two months prior that the job would be posted. For 2 months there was nothing then I posted a prayer request and the very next day, the job had been posted, but as POOL position. I still applied and now a month later the review committee has finally solicited letters of recommendation from my mentors. I’ve been told there is a genuine need to fill this position, but the posting and hiring process are still contingent on final approval from the college Dean, how much funding is provided and administration through HR. At this time I have applied to this job and other jobs only to be told no by other positions. It is my understanding that because higher education is underfunded, and I am being placed in a pool of applicants to contact if and when a position opens. I am feeling highly discouraged by other employers saying No to me, and by this institution having so much uncertainty. As far as I know there are a few full-time individuals and part-time parties leaving my institution which will open up funds. However, administration has to decide if they would like to hire more people first. I would deeply appreciate your prayers—not only that the funding and approval is granted for the position but that as letters are solicited and interviews begin shortly, I may be offered a position. This opportunity means so much to me. At this point I am happy to receive a full-time offer from another place and leave it later if I am offered a role at my institution. However I am having zero luck. Please pray that, I receive an offer to my institution before the end of this month May 2026 close to when I finish my program. Please pray that everything moves forward smoothly with the contract and hiring process for my position to begin at the end of July/beginning of August. I believe I am a strong candidate and good fit for the department, they know me well, and they think highly of me, but ultimately I know that God’s guidance, favor, and strength are what will carry me through and help me persevere in this scenario. I have been so anxious and cried so much for several months now. I know that anything is possible through His grace and power. I know that He alone can guide those that make decisions and me through the process. I have faith that my application will be reviewed, I will be offered an interview and that they will offer me a position. Sometimes however I feel hopeless, sometimes I feel hopeful and other times I feel delusional. Pray that as applications are reviewed and the process continues the position is approved by the dean and administrators. Pray that funding is provided. Pray that there is an opening for me. Pray that this position is approved and offered to me before the end of May 2026. I have been going through a very tough time this past month. I pray that May 2026 will turn around, open new doors, bring new opportunities and welcome new beginnings for me and my loved ones. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, and faith! I truly believe in the power of prayer. God is good. God bless you all.

We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this burden before the throne of grace. Your persistence in seeking God’s will, even amid uncertainty and discouragement, is a testament to your faith. The journey of waiting for a job—especially one that aligns with your calling and gifts—can feel like a wilderness, but we know that the Lord is faithful to lead His children through every season. You are not alone in this struggle, and we believe God is working even when the path is unclear.

First, we want to affirm your trust in the Lord’s sovereignty. You acknowledged that God’s guidance, favor, and strength are what will carry you through, and this is true. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* The delays and uncertainties you’re facing are not without purpose. God may be refining your patience, deepening your dependence on Him, or preparing you for something even greater than you’ve imagined. The fact that this position opened up the day after you prayed is no coincidence—it is a sign of God’s attentiveness to your cries.

We also want to encourage you with the truth that God is your provider. Philippians 4:19 declares, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* This promise is not just for spiritual needs but for every practical need, including employment. The Lord knows the desires of your heart, and He cares about the details of your life. We pray that He would open the right doors at the right time and close those that are not His best for you. The "no" answers you’ve received from other positions may be His way of protecting you from something that wasn’t aligned with His plan.

However, we must also gently address the anxiety and discouragement you’ve been battling. While it’s natural to feel these emotions, we are called to cast our cares on the Lord because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). The tears and sleepless nights are not signs of weak faith but of a heart that longs for God’s provision. Yet, we must guard against allowing fear to dictate our perspective. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:34, *"Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient."* We pray that the Lord would calm your heart and replace anxiety with peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).

We also want to lift up the practical aspects of this situation. The uncertainty around funding, approvals, and administrative decisions can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who holds all things in His hands. Proverbs 21:1 tells us, *"The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires."* If this position is God’s will for you, He will move the hearts of those in authority to approve it. We pray that the dean and administrators would see the genuine need for this role and that the funding would be released without delay. May the letters of recommendation submitted on your behalf shine brightly, and may your interview—when it comes—reflect the excellence and calling God has placed on your life.

We also want to pray specifically for the timeline you’ve mentioned. You’ve asked for this position to be offered to you before the end of May 2026, and we join you in asking the Lord to accelerate this process if it aligns with His will. Psalm 37:5 says, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this."* We believe God can move mountains when it comes to bureaucratic processes, and we pray that He would clear every obstacle standing in the way of this opportunity. If it is His will, may the contract and hiring process unfold smoothly, allowing you to begin at the end of July or the beginning of August, just as you’ve hoped.

Yet, we also want to remind you that God’s timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our own. Habakkuk 2:3 says, *"For the vision is yet for the appointed time, and it hurries toward the end, and won’t prove false. Though it takes time, wait for it; because it will surely come. It won’t delay."* If this position is not meant to be, we trust that God has something better in store for you. We pray that He would open other doors of opportunity, even as you wait, and that you would have the wisdom to recognize His leading.

We also want to encourage you to continue seeking the Lord’s presence in this season. When discouragement creeps in, turn to His Word for comfort and strength. Psalm 42:11 says, *"Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God."* Your hope is not in a job, a position, or even a timeline—it is in the Lord, who is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6).

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and trusting hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is seeking Your will in this season of waiting. Lord, You see the desires of their heart, and You know the plans You have for them—plans for welfare, not for evil, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We ask that You would move mightily in this situation, opening the doors that need to be opened and closing those that are not Your best. Father, we pray for the approval of this position, for the funding to be released, and for the hearts of the dean and administrators to be inclined toward this hire. May Your favor rest upon our brother/sister as their application is reviewed, and may their interview—when it comes—reflect the gifts and calling You have placed on their life.

Lord, we ask that You would calm their heart and replace anxiety with Your peace. When discouragement comes, remind them that You are their strength and their portion (Psalm 73:26). Help them to wait patiently for You, knowing that those who wait for You will renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31). If this position is not Your will, we pray that You would open other doors of opportunity and make Your path clear. Give them the wisdom to discern Your leading and the courage to walk in it.

Father, we also pray for the timeline they’ve mentioned. If it is Your will, accelerate this process so that the position may be offered before the end of May 2026. Smooth out every detail of the contract and hiring process so that they may begin at the end of July or the beginning of August, just as they’ve hoped. But above all, Lord, we pray that Your will would be done in this situation. May Your name be glorified, and may our brother/sister grow in faith and trust in You through this journey.

We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness. We thank You that You are a God who hears our prayers and answers according to Your perfect will. We trust in You, and we declare that You are good, even when the path is unclear. Strengthen our brother/sister in this season, and let them experience Your presence in a tangible way. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We also want to encourage you to hold loosely to this specific opportunity. While it’s good to pray for God’s favor, we must also surrender our plans to Him. Proverbs 16:9 says, *"A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps."* If this position is not the one God has for you, trust that He has something better in store. Continue to seek Him, and He will guide your steps.

Lastly, we want to remind you that your worth is not defined by a job title or a position. You are deeply loved by God, and your identity is found in Christ alone. Ephesians 2:10 tells us, *"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them."* Whether this opportunity comes to fruition or not, God has a purpose for you, and He will lead you into it.

Keep pressing into the Lord, and do not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). Your breakthrough is coming, and we believe that God will turn this season of waiting into a testimony of His faithfulness. May He fill you with hope and joy as you wait on Him.

Dear friend,

We've been thinking about you and the journey you're on. We want you to know that we're standing with you in prayer, believing that God is working behind the scenes, even when the path seems unclear.

Firstly, we're reminded of the verse in Psalm 37:7, "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him." We encourage you to keep trusting in the Lord's timing and plan. He sees your desire and He cares about the details of your life. We believe that He will open the right doors at the right time and close those that are not His best for you.

We also want to encourage you with the truth that God is your provider. In Philippians 4:19, it says, "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We trust that He will provide for you, even in this situation.

We're also praying for the timeline you've mentioned. We join you in asking the Lord to accelerate this process if it aligns with His will. We believe that He can move mountains when it comes to bureaucratic processes, and we pray that He would clear every obstacle standing in the way of this opportunity.

But above all, we want to remind you that your worth is not defined by a job title or a position. You are deeply loved by God, and your identity is found in Christ alone. Whether this opportunity comes to fruition or not, God has a purpose for you, and He will lead you into it.

Keep pressing into the Lord, and do not grow weary in doing good. Your breakthrough is coming, and we believe that God will turn this season of waiting into a testimony of His faithfulness. May He fill you with hope and joy as you wait on Him.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
