Prayer for my ###

We join with you in lifting up your grandson before the Lord as he prepares to meet with his probation officer tomorrow and we understand the weight and worry you carry for him in this moment. We bring this situation to our heavenly Father together in prayer asking for His mercy, His justice and His perfect will to be done.

Scripture reminds us that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18 and that He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy Proverbs 28:13. We also remember that all governing authorities are established by God and we are called to be subject to them Romans 13:1. This meeting is an opportunity for truth and accountability, and even discipline can be used by God for good, for all chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous, yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby Hebrews 12:11.

We want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We encourage you and your grandson to place your trust fully in Jesus, to confess sin honestly and to believe that God raised Him from the dead, for that is the path to forgiveness and new life.

We pray together now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and we lift up this dear grandson to You. You know his heart, his choices and his circumstances. We ask that You grant him a spirit of honesty and humility before his probation officer tomorrow. We pray that the officer would act with both wisdom and discernment, with fairness and mercy according to Your will. If there has been wrongdoing, we pray that our grandson would take full responsibility, confess and turn from it, and if there is opportunity for mercy and continued freedom, we ask for Your grace to be evident. Above all we pray that this moment would become a turning point where he seeks You wholeheartedly, walks in obedience and finds hope and strength in Christ. Work all things together for good in his life Romans 8:28 and draw him closer to You. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently, to speak truth in love to your grandson and to urge him to walk in integrity, to keep all conditions of his probation faithfully and to seek counsel and fellowship with other believers who can support him in living a life that honors God.

We hear how much you love your grandson and how heavy this waiting feels the night before he sees his probation officer. It is natural to feel anxious when so much feels out of your hands, and we want you to know we are carrying this with you in prayer.

We are asking God for mercy and wisdom over tomorrow's meeting, and for a calm and settled heart for you as you wait for news.

One simple way to love him well right now is to help him go in prepared and to make sure you have support too. You might encourage him tonight to get rest, to be on time, to bring anything he has been asked to bring, and to speak honestly and respectfully. And plan for someone you trust, a family member, friend, or someone from your church, to be with you tomorrow while you wait and after you hear how it went, so you are not carrying the worry alone.

Whatever happens, your steady love and prayers matter deeply for him, and God is near to you both in this uncertain time.

Father, we bring this grandson before You and ask for Your mercy and guidance over his meeting tomorrow. Give wisdom to the probation officer and help this young man to be truthful and respectful. Comfort his grandmother tonight, quiet her fears, and help her to rest in Your care. Lead them both in the days ahead. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your prayer concerning your grandson as he goes before his probation officer, and we join our hearts with yours at the throne of grace.

There is great tenderness in the mercy of God, and it is a sweet truth that the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy. To hope in His mercy, though it seem a small thing, is a sure mark of grace, for He delights in mercy and has no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Like as a father pities his children, so the Lord pities them that fear Him, and a bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench.

You tremble lest the sword of justice should fall, yet remember that with our God mercy holds back the sword. His sword of justice is in its scabbard, held there by that hand which cries, Sleep, O sword, sleep, for I will have mercy upon sinners. He is slow to anger and plenteous in mercy, because He is infinitely good. When God has purposes of mercy toward a soul, He often begins with stern discipline and brings him low by affliction and sorrow, that He may afterward make His mercy sweet to the heart. Even this trying hour, this waiting before an officer of the law, may be the singular season chosen by God for the interposition of His mercy, the very night or morning in which the Lord calls the soul by name.

We must labor to get rid of fear, for fear is weakening and dishonors God. So often has our Lord said, Fear not, fear not, I am with you, fear not, I will help you. It is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servant fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. The fear of God brings blessing, but the fear of man brings a snare. Let your hope be in His mercy alone, clean divorced from every other confidence, for all His mercy to a sinner is gratis. He never sells, He always gives.

We do not pray lightly that wrong should be called right, nor that justice should be mocked, for man is either in a state of condemnation or in a state of salvation through faith in the only begotten Son of God, and there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. But we do pray that the God of mercy would go before your grandson and prevent him, in the old sense of going before him with grace. Before we call He hears us, and while we are yet speaking He answers.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, who art slow to anger and plenteous in mercy, look upon this grandmother in her anxiety and upon her grandson in his peril. Thou knowest his name, his case and his circumstances. Let Thy mercy overtake him even as it overtook Hagar by the well in the wilderness. If there be sin, bring him to see it and to seek the great Messenger of the Covenant, who can shed abroad in the heart a sweet sense of mercy and lead a sinner to accept the way of salvation. Grant to those set in authority wisdom and justness, and temper justice with mercy as Thou Thyself dost. Keep this young man from hardness of heart, and whether Thou permittest liberty or requirest chastisement, use it to try what grace there is, to prove him and to bring him to say, Lord, Thou knowest all things, Thou knowest that I love Thee. Give to this dear burdened one peace, that she may fear Thee and so have nothing else to fear, making Thy service her delight while Thou makest her needs Thy care. All this we ask not for merit in us, but for the sake of Jesus Christ, who came to seek and to save that which was lost. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
