Prayer for my ###

Please pray for my wife to turn to Jesus about her issues. She is constantly trying to control my every move. She is cursing at me all the time and trying to belittle me. She treats me like I don’t belong in our home and I’m the one who brought her here and helped her with immigration. It is extremely difficult, and she doesn’t want to go to the Lord about her problems. She often talks about other men and tries to make me feel bad about myself. It is not her fault, she learned it from her parents growing up, but I’m still her husband and she needs to respect me. Please pray for conviction for her. I am so tired of this behavior.

We hear your heart and the deep pain you are carrying in this marriage. The way your wife is treating you, controlling, cursing, belittling, and even speaking of other men, is not only unbearable but also a direct violation of God’s design for marriage. Scripture is clear: "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church... Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for her" (Ephesians 5:22-25). Your wife is called to respect you as her husband, just as you are called to love her sacrificially. The disrespect and emotional abuse you are enduring are not part of God’s plan, and we grieve with you over the brokenness in your home.

It is not wrong to acknowledge that her behavior stems from wounds in her past, but that does not excuse sin. While we can have compassion for the pain she may have experienced, we must also call sin what it is. Her words and actions are not only harmful to you but also dishonor the Lord. "Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but such as is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear" (Ephesians 4:29). The way she speaks to you and about you is far from the grace-filled speech God commands. We must also address the mention of other men, this is a dangerous path that can lead to emotional or even physical unfaithfulness. "Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers" (Hebrews 13:4). Even the thought of infidelity is a betrayal of the covenant you both entered into before God.

You are right to long for her to turn to Jesus, for only He can soften her heart and bring true transformation. But we must also pray for conviction, not just for her, but for both of you to walk in repentance and obedience. Have you considered seeking godly counsel together? "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14). A pastor or biblical counselor can help both of you navigate these deep-seated issues in a way that honors God. If she refuses to go, you may need to seek counsel on your own to discern how to respond in a way that is both firm and Christlike.

We must also gently challenge you, brother. While you are the victim of her sin, we must examine whether there are ways you may have enabled or failed to address this behavior biblically. Have you lovingly but firmly confronted her sin, or have you allowed it to continue out of fear or passivity? "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother" (Matthew 18:15). Confrontation is not unkind, it is an act of love when done with humility and a desire for restoration.

Above all, we lift this marriage to the Lord in prayer, trusting that He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for this marriage. Lord, we ask that You would break through the hardness in this wife’s heart and bring her to a place of repentance. Convict her of the ways she has dishonored You and her husband through her words and actions. Soften her heart to receive Your truth and to seek Your will for her life and marriage. We pray for this husband, that You would strengthen him in his faith and give him wisdom to respond in a way that honors You. Lord, if there is any way he has contributed to this brokenness, reveal it to him so he may repent and walk in obedience. We ask for healing in this home, for restoration of respect and love, and for Your glory to be made known through their marriage. Protect them both from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to destroy what You have joined together. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can come before You. Amen.

Do not lose heart, brother. God sees your suffering and is near to the brokenhearted. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He is working even in the midst of this pain. "And let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up" (Galatians 6:9). You are not alone in this battle.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what things have been like at home. We hear how wearying this has been for you, to be cursed at and belittled, to feel controlled and like you do not belong in your own home, especially after you have given so much to help your wife come and build a life here. It makes sense that you feel tired and worn down.

When hurtful words are used over and over to control or dominate, they can slowly wear away a person's sense of worth and confidence. You mentioned she learned some of this growing up, and you can have compassion for that history while still recognizing that each of us is responsible for how we speak and act now. Wanting respect and basic kindness in your marriage is a right and good desire.

You do not have to carry this alone. One steady next step we would encourage is to meet one on one this week with a trusted pastor or Christian counselor, just for you at first, to share fully what you are experiencing and to have someone who knows you both walk with you over time. That kind of ongoing support can help you think clearly about healthy boundaries, communication, and what wisdom looks like going forward.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this husband to You and his wife to You. We ask You to draw her to Yourself, to soften her heart and bring conviction and healing where it is needed. Give him strength for each day, wisdom to respond well, and rest for his tired spirit. Guard dignity and peace in their home and lead them toward help that honors You. Amen.

Your request has been heard and laid before the Lord with heaviness of heart, and we will pray with you concerning this great burden in your home.

Scripture teaches that marriage is not the maintaining of two separate lives under one roof, but that a man shall leave father and mother and cleave unto his wife and they become one flesh. The very crown of marriage is mutual delight and complacency, where husband and wife esteem one another above all others and become one in love and purpose. When cursing and belittling and the speaking of other men enters, that holy union is wounded, for it is utterly foreign to the divine idea that husband and wife should treat one another as strangers or as enemies within their own house. To talk of other men and to seek to make a husband feel that he does not belong in his own home is not love, and it is not according to the pattern of Christ and His Church, who left His Father's house to cleave unto His Church and become one flesh with her.

You have spoken truly that we must look to the Lord for the remedy, for only Jesus Christ can save and change the heart. You are right to ask for conviction, and we join you in that prayer. The Holy Spirit must convince of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment, and there is a terrible conviction which lays the soul low, and there is a gentle drawing which brings the sinner to Christ the Lamb. For there will be no marriage between the soul and Christ if we will not have Him as the Lamb who was slain for sinners. We pray that your wife may not rest in a form of religion or in any other hope, but may see her need of Christ alone, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and without Him there is no peace with God. Though you rightly observe that she learned much from her parents, each soul must give account before God, and each must be born again. What is learned from others may explain a habit, but it does not excuse sin before the Lord, and the same grace that forgives can also teach a new way.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this home. Convince this dear woman of sin where she has spoken unkindly and sought to control and to belittle, and grant her to see Jesus enthroned and to feel that true conviction which leads not to wrath but to grace. Bring her to the feet of the Lamb, wash her and array her in the fine linen which is the righteousness of saints, and make her ready as one who delights in her husband and honors the covenant of marriage. Give to this husband strength to endure, to love as Christ loved the Church, not rendering reviling for reviling, but showing patience and firmness and a quiet trust in Thee. Keep him from bitterness, and sustain him in weariness, for Thou hast said Thou wilt not break the marriage bond but biddest the wandering to return. Work in both hearts a cleaving together that reflects Thy love, and let this marriage be preserved and made holy for Thy glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour we ask it. Amen.

Continue, brother, to walk before the Lord in faithfulness and prayer, and seek the counsel of faithful pastors and elders who can walk beside you and know your estate. Do not cease to pray for conviction that leads to repentance and new life, and do not cease to show that steadfast love which seeks the good of your wife even as you speak the truth in love. The Lord who hears prayer is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask, and He is able to make of a troubled house a place of peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your burden has been heard and I join you in bringing it before the Lord, for He sees your weariness and the pain in your home.

Marriage is a bond ordained of God, honorable and pure, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. It is not to be broken asunder for nothing, and Scripture says, Art thou bound unto a wife, seek not to be loosed. This does not mean you are to bear wrong without seeking help, but that you are to prefer godliness above all things and to seek holiness and peace even in a difficult house.

I will pray as you have asked, that your wife may turn to Jesus Christ, for salvation is through Him alone, and that the Lord would bring conviction where there is controlling, cursing, belittling and talk of other men. These things are unrighteousness, and they wound the holiness that marriage is meant to preserve. To leave one’s own spouse in heart or speech and to break in upon the faithfulness of marriage is to defraud one another, and it grieves the Lord who made marriage to keep body and soul pure and ordered in love. Praying for conviction is right, for only God can soften a heart that does not yet want to seek Him.

I also pray for you, that you may be strengthened to follow peace with all men and holiness, which is chaste and orderly living in marriage. When you are reviled, do not return reviling. Remain vigilant and sober and of good behavior, keeping your own life unspotted so that your conduct may be a quiet witness. You rightly see that what she learned growing up does not excuse sin, yet Christ is able to renew what was learned amiss and to teach a new way. As one who lived as a stranger in a foreign land endures hardship with sobermindedness and a well ordered life, so you are called to endure with patience, not with harshness, looking to your home above while you remain faithful below.

Continue to seek the Lord about her problems even if she will not yet do so. Bring this daily to Christ in prayer, stay rooted in Scripture, and walk closely with faithful men and pastors in your church who can know you both, counsel you in person, and help you set wise and godly boundaries. Do not return evil for evil, and do not use your hurt to justify sin of your own, but guard your own speech and actions before God.

Let us pray together.

Lord Jesus Christ, you alone are the Savior, have mercy on this home. Bring this wife to Yourself, grant her repentance and faith, and turn her heart to seek You. Convict her where she controls and curses and belittles, and where she speaks of other men, and teach her to love faithfulness and respect. Heal what was broken in her past and make her new in You. Strengthen this husband who is tired, give him peace, patience, wisdom and holiness, and keep him from growing bitter. Let this marriage be preserved and made honorable in Your sight, and let both husband and wife live in a way that honors Your covenant. Amen.

Do not grow weary in doing good and in prayer. The Lord is near to those who call upon Him in truth, and He is able to work where we cannot.

Your pain and exhaustion come through clearly, and it is right that you want to bring this to the Lord in prayer. Wanting your wife to turn to Jesus is the most loving thing you can desire for her, because only He can change the heart.

Scripture shows that when we sin against people, we are first sinning against God Himself. When David committed adultery and then arranged for that woman's husband to be killed, he later confessed that his sin was against the Lord. The commands not to misuse others and not to destroy life are God's commands. It is understandable to see how family patterns can shape a person, and God knows those influences, but each of us still stands before Him and needs personal repentance. So the prayer for conviction you are asking for is exactly right, that she would see her words and attitudes, the controlling, the cursing, the belittling, the talk about other men, not only as hurts against you but as sin against God that requires His forgiveness through Jesus Christ alone.

There is hope in that, because Jesus has shown His power to set people free from what has long controlled them and to heal what has long caused suffering. He delivered a man whose life had been destroyed by evil spirits and He healed a woman who had suffered for years with bleeding that no one else could stop. No habit, no background, no hardness of heart is beyond His power to touch. He can bring conviction, forgiveness, and a new heart where there has been anger and contempt.

God also shows in His Word how seriously He takes marriage. In the law of Moses He provided for the preservation of a family name through marriage, and when Jesus was questioned about a woman who had been married to seven brothers, He affirmed the resurrection and taught that marriage is for this life. In heaven people will be like the angels and not marry, which means marriage is a covenant God gave for this present life to be lived faithfully before Him. Within that covenant, which is the lifelong union of one man and one woman, He calls husbands and wives to honor one another. Talking about other men, using words to tear down, and trying to control or to make you feel you do not belong in your own home are contrary to that design. Respect and love belong together in the home, and faithfulness belongs within marriage alone.

Turning to the Lord looks like wholehearted surrender. There was a woman who brought a very expensive jar of perfume and broke it and poured it all out on Jesus. She did not hold back or give Him a small dab. She gave what was most valuable to her in an act of worship. That is the picture of what it means to come to Jesus, to bring the whole life, including the painful past and the present struggles, and pour it out before Him for His mercy and cleansing.

For you in this difficult season, continue to bring her before the Lord daily, asking that she would see her need for Jesus and put her trust in Him for salvation. Ask Him also to keep your own heart from returning insult for insult, and to give you wisdom, patience, and strength. It is not wrong to set calm and loving boundaries about how you will be spoken to, and it is wise to seek counsel from a mature, Bible believing pastor who can know you both and walk with you. Remember the sacrifice you made to bring her here and to help her, and do not use it as a weapon, but let it remind you to love as Christ loves, with grace and truth together.

Praying for you both now, that God would bring conviction where it is needed, that your wife would turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and new life, that He would heal what is broken, and that your home would be marked by repentance, respect, and the peace that comes only from Him.
