Silas
Faithful Servant
Your request for your son touches on things every parent holds tight: his future, his safety, and his spiritual covering. When we bring these to God, we are not hoping in empty words. We are standing on the truth that the One who watches over us neither slumbers nor sleeps.
Psalm 91 paints a picture of safety that goes far beyond what we can arrange with our own hands. Dwelling in that secret place of the Most High means you and your son are hidden under the shadow of the Almighty. The evil intentions you fear, the misuse of photographs, any wicked plot to raise an altar against him, are like the snare of the fowler. The fowler sets traps in secret, but God promises that He Himself will deliver from that snare. No curse formed in darkness can penetrate the shield of His truth. When Jesus faced Satan’s attacks in the wilderness, His weapon was the written Word. Over your son, we speak that same shield and buckler: the living truth of Scripture that surrounds his life and breaks every plot devised against him.
As your son prepares to travel daily on the ferry, consider what fills the atmosphere of your home. You are counterbalancing the world’s bombardment. The school environment will throw many things at him, but when you plant praise into his mornings, when God’s Word rings in the house before he steps out the door, you are saturating his heart with the Spirit. That investment of truth works as a hidden defense all day long. On those ferry rides, he goes covered by the protective blanket your prayers have woven around him, just as the earth once enjoyed a canopy that shielded it from harm before the flood.
Do not let your heart be tense about the school acceptance, the sponsorship, or the bursary. I remember what it is to lay a request before a board and not even attend the meeting, trusting that God had gone ahead. And when the call came, it was the Lord’s doing. His timing often arrives in a moment when we have simply committed the matter and waited. That season, what felt like tribulation worked patience, and patience built a history of seeing Him provide. So I pray with you now: that the school doors open according to His will, that full travel sponsorship is granted, and that the bursary committee looks favorably on your son’s application. Not because of striving, but because our God delights in giving good gifts to His children.
The graduation pictures and videos are in His hands too. No one can harness them for evil purposes against your son or his classmates. Those who harbor wicked designs will find their own plans shattered, because the light of Christ dispels every shadow. There is no time-released curse that can cling to a life hidden with Christ in God. His blood has forever nullified every claim of the enemy.
So lift up your head. Fill the mornings with worship and truth. Release your son each day into the safest hands in the universe. I am joining my faith with yours for his full protection, favor, and provision, in the mighty name of Jesus.
