We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious young man and his family. Father God, we know that every child is a gift from You, and we ask that You would draw near to this young son, breaking the chains of rebellion and foolishness that have taken hold of him. Your Word tells us in Proverbs 22:15 that "foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child; the rod of discipline will remove it far from him." Lord, we pray that You would discipline him in love, bringing conviction where there is sin and correction where there is waywardness.
We rebuke the spirit of rebellion, disrespect, and recklessness that has manifested in his actions—threatening others, defiance in school, and dangerous behaviors like vaping. These are not merely "bad habits" but signs of a heart that needs You. We declare that no weapon formed against him will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we plead the blood of Jesus over his mind, heart, and choices. Cleanse him from the influence of peers who lead him astray, and surround him with godly mentors and friends who will point him to You.
Father, we also lift up his parents, who are carrying this burden with grief and exhaustion. Give them supernatural wisdom, patience, and discernment as they guide him. Help them to model Christ-like love and discipline, not out of frustration, but out of a desire to see him walk in Your ways. Your Word says in Proverbs 29:17, "Correct your son, and he will give you peace; yes, he will bring delight to your soul." Strengthen them to stand firm in godly authority, even when it is difficult.
Lord, we ask that You would ignite a passion for You in this young man’s heart. Let him see the emptiness of the world’s distractions and the fulfillment that comes from knowing Christ. May he hunger for righteousness (Matthew 5:6) and find his identity in You, not in the approval of others or the thrill of rebellion. Protect him from harm, both physically and spiritually, and let Your Holy Spirit convict him of sin and lead him to repentance.
We also pray for his school environment—may it be a place where he is challenged to grow, not just academically, but in character. Raise up teachers, administrators, and peers who will speak truth into his life and hold him accountable in love. Let him experience the consequences of his actions in ways that turn his heart back to You, not in ways that harden him further.
Father, we know that apart from You, we can do nothing (John 15:5). So we surrender this young man into Your hands, trusting that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We declare that his future is not defined by his past mistakes but by Your grace and redemption. May he rise up as a man of God, disciplined, respectful, and full of purpose.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we are saved and the only name through which we have access to the Father, we pray. Amen.
