Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, I lift up this prayer to you as an offer of thanksgiving for the years you have given me. Thank you for always looking out for me, even when I think that you aren’t there. Thank you for being with me in my quiet moments where I had no one, and the moments when the world was loud. You have known me since I was a child, my first friend, since the day I stumbled through my first prayer. With this, I ask you to please guide me forwards as I become the person I was meant to be. Make me as compassionate, kind, and forgiving as your Son, Jesus Christ; and maybe help me become as humorous as he was. Lord, please do not forget my aging parents, for they have given me all their love, every single day. Bless my family, my friends, professors, and all the new people I will meet in life. Thank you for everything ever! Amen.

We join you in thanksgiving for the years God has given you and we rejoice with you as you celebrate this birthday. Your heart of gratitude honors Him, and we are encouraged by how you recognize His presence in both quiet and loud seasons of life, as your first friend since childhood.

We are reminded of what is written, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits Psalm 103:2-3 and Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights James 1:17. Your life itself is a gift from His hand, and we thank Him with you for His faithful watching over you even when you could not feel Him near. It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness Lamentations 3:22-23.

We also hear your desire to be guided forward and made more compassionate, kind and forgiving as our Lord Jesus. That desire pleases God, for we are called to be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you Ephesians 4:32. And we love your prayer to reflect even the joy and humor of Christ, for a joyful heart is part of His goodness, and He came that we might have life abundantly. We pray He will continue to form your character into the likeness of His Son as you walk with Him.

We lift up your aging parents with you, thanking God for their daily love and sacrifice. We pray you will continue to honor them as we are commanded, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you Exodus 20:12, and that God will bless them with health, peace and the comfort of His presence. We also lift up your family, friends, professors and all those you will meet in the years ahead.

We pray together, Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our only access to Your throne, and we give You thanks for this life You have created and sustained. Thank You for knowing this dear one since childhood, for hearing that first stumbling prayer and every prayer since, and for never leaving in quiet loneliness or in the noise of the world. We ask You to guide every step forward, to teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom Psalm 90:12, and to fulfill Your good plans, for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. Make this one more like Jesus in compassion, kindness, forgiveness and holy joy, and use this life to be a blessing to others. Pour out Your blessing, protection and grace upon parents, family, friends and professors, and let all who are connected to this life see Your goodness. We thank You for everything You have done and all You will do. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to keep walking closely with Jesus, abiding in His Word and in prayer, trusting that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:6. May this new year of life be filled with growth, joyful fellowship and deeper knowledge of His love.

We loved reading your thanksgiving on your birthday. The way you describe God as your first friend, with you in quiet moments when you had no one and in loud seasons too, is really moving. Thank you for sharing that gratitude with us.

We hear your heart to keep becoming the person God made you to be, more compassionate, kind and forgiving like Jesus, even with a touch of humor. That desire itself is a good gift. We have found that kind of growth usually happens gradually, almost imperceptibly, over a lifetime with highs and lows, not all at once. What matters is staying close to the Lord over the long haul through simple, steady ways like time in Scripture, honest prayer, worship and fellowship with other believers, trusting the Holy Spirit to do the growing in His timing. Your life will not look exactly like anyone else's, and that is as it should be.

One small way to mark this year could be to write down a brief prayer for the year ahead and one practical way you want to live out that compassion, and revisit it in a few months to see how God has been at work. We are also joining you in thanking God for your parents and asking Him to care for them.

We pray for you now. Father, thank You for the years You have given our friend and for Your faithful presence since childhood. Guide them forward in wisdom and kindness, shape them more into the likeness of Your Son, and bless their parents, family, friends, professors and those they will meet. Keep them close to You in the year ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

How sweet it is to hear a prayer that begins not with asking but with thanksgiving. You have done well to come into His presence with the voice of joy and thanksgiving, bearing your offering of gratitude unto the Lord. All the year round, every hour of every day, God is richly blessing us, both when we sleep and when we wake His mercy waits upon us, and there are crowning mercies which suggest special and crowning thanksgiving. Your birthday is such a mercy. It is thoughtfully and cheerfully wise to mark each birthday. It should be a holy day in every Christian's case, a day of grateful thanksgiving that we have come so far upon the road of life.

You thank Him that He has known you since you were a child and that He has been your friend from your first stumbling prayer. That conviction which led you to take a Guide happily came very early, and it will influence for good the whole of your future existence. David began to experience divine guidance while he was a shepherd boy and it was well for him that it was so. For naturally we do not like being guided, but a work of grace upon the heart makes us feel our need of it. So I pray with you that the Lord will guide you forwards. The Psalmist says, Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. This guidance comes by bowing with submission to the will of God, and by having great principles infused within, chief among them to avoid everything that is evil. May the Lord keep you from haste, which is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, and make your faith in the future stronger and more robust by His grace.

You ask to be made as compassionate, kind and forgiving as the Lord Jesus Christ. That is a prayer He delights to answer. Compassion and forbearance preeminently dwell in Jesus Christ, who can have compassion on the ignorant and on them that are out of the way, being touched with the feeling of our infirmities. The whole tenor and spirit of the gospel influences us to compassion. We are debtors, for what were we if compassion had not come to our rescue. Divine compassion, all undeserved and free, has redeemed us. May God make you an imitator of Him in pity towards others, tenderhearted and full of compassion, for if you have not compassion you cannot do them good.

And I join you in prayer for your aging parents who have given you all their love. May the Lord who has compassion upon infirmities and sicknesses graciously watch over them and comfort them. I pray also for your family, your friends, your professors, and all the new people you will meet, that the Lord would make you a blessing to them and keep you in His light.

May the Lord bless you and keep you, make His face to shine upon you, and give you to grow in grace until that day when the end shall be better than the beginning, and He shall receive you to glory. We thank God for your life and pray He will make the years to come full of faith, hope and love in Christ. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
