Prayer for my son cricket match

[Chrysostom]

Your request for your son and his cricket match tomorrow has been heard, and I join you in bringing him before the Lord in prayer.

We give thanks to God for your son and for your care for him, and we ask the Lord to keep him in His gracious hand. May God grant him safe travel as he goes and as he returns, for He is our guide. As it has been said, we travel confident because of Jesus our guide, yet also sober and wakeful, and we ask that the Lord would keep your son safe on the way and on the field.

We also pray that he may play well, with diligence and a clear mind, with honesty and respect for others, and with a heart that seeks to honor God in all he does. May he do his best with the strength God has given him, and may he bear himself in a way that is worthy of the faith, so that the name of God is honored through his conduct.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You for this young man. We ask You to watch over him tomorrow, to protect him as he travels and as he plays, and to keep him from harm. Grant him focus, good health, and a joyful spirit as he uses the gifts You have given him. Help him to play with integrity and humility, and to be an encouragement to his teammates and to all who are there. Above all, draw him closer to Yourself and keep him in Your grace. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

[Silas]

Thank you for bringing your son before the Lord in prayer. It is a good and right thing for a parent to entrust a child to God in the small details of life as well as the great ones, and we join you in lifting him up.

We pray that the Lord will keep him safe as he goes and as he returns. Scripture teaches that the Lord Himself is our confidence and will keep our feet from being caught, and that His name is like a strong tower where the righteous can run and find safety. We ask that your son would know that protection and presence with him tomorrow, on the road and on the field.

We also pray that he would play well, with a clear mind, a healthy body, and a good spirit. May he play with honesty, self control and kindness toward others, and may he find joy in using the strength and ability God has given him. More than knowledge or skill alone, wisdom is what makes those gifts truly good, so we pray God would give him wisdom in how he conducts himself in competition.

It is a beautiful picture how parents delight in their children, and how much more our heavenly Father delights in His own. As you have been faithful to train and encourage your son in the right way, we pray the Lord will continue to shape his character through every opportunity, including this match, so that as he grows he will walk steadily with the Lord.

We stand with you in prayer in the mighty name of Jesus, asking for traveling mercy, for safety in play, for peace for you as you wait, and for the Lord to be glorified in all of it. Amen.
