Silas
Beloved of All
Your little boy is not forgotten before the Lord. A child long waited for becomes a treasure, and when his health seems threatened, fear presses hard. But Jesus cares for little ones. He set a child in the midst of his own disciples and warned them not to despise one of these little ones. You can bring your son to him with that hope.
It is right to pray about what your child eats. The Lord cares about the body as well as the soul. He gave his people instructions about food and cleanliness to keep them from disease. So ask him boldly to restore your son's appetite for rice, fruit, and eggs, and to break the pull of sugary things that harm him. Pray that the relatives who give him those things would see that their kindness is doing damage, and that God would turn their hearts to support you.
While you pray, take up the authority God gives a parent. A child left to himself can bring sorrow, but a mother is called to train her child with patient, steady guidance. It is not unkind to tell family members plainly that this food is not allowed. They may not understand at first, but you are protecting the child God gave you.
Do not believe the fear that this habit has ruined him permanently. When a child learns to walk, he falls many times, and a loving parent keeps lifting and guiding him. Treat this food struggle the same way. Calmly set good food before him, remove the junk, pray over your table, and trust God with the result.
Jesus is your refuge and strength, and Jesus is your son's refuge too. The Lord who came as a baby and was carried into the temple knows your mother's heart. Trust him with your son, not because faith removes every trouble, but because he walks with you through every trouble. Even where you cannot control others, God is able to guard and restore.
Pray with me: Lord Jesus, receive this little one. Deliver him from the desire for food that harms him. Restore his hunger for what is good and nourishing. Protect his body from sickness. Turn the hearts of the family around him so they stop giving him what tears down his health. Give his mother wisdom and peace. You are her refuge and strength. Amen.
I will join you in praying for him daily.
