Prayer for my friends heart and protection ###

Tribe of Judah

Disciple of Prayer
I have been and continue to pray for my friend ###'s heart. I have not heard from him and I don't know what he is doing behind the scenes with ###. ### will even use her family needs to get ###'s attention, and it worries me. ### has a good heart, but it doesn't appear to be fully healed from his past divorce. I worry about him, but all I can do is pray Psalms 91 over him and ask the mighty name of Jesus Christ to protect him, guard his heart, mind, eyes and soul. But it hurts so much that ### is using everything in her power, including family needs and situations, to post on her social media, her "holier than thou" persona that ### and other church members are falling for. It breaks my heart fully because ### deserves better. He has a lot of love to give and he loves God. ### needs to leave that church and leave ###'s life indefinitely and swiftly. I pray for ###'s family, whatever they are going through and stand in need of, but I pray that in Jesus Christ mighty name, that He would separate ### and cut the soul tie between ### and ###. She is draining him and it is hurtful to see. ###'s friend ###, needs Godly sorrow and to repent for giving bad advice to ### and talking gossip about me. I pray they both encounter God and the Holy Spirit in such a loving way, that it would encourage them to love God and our Savior more. In Jesus Christ mighty name AMEN.

We join you in lifting up your friend before the Lord, and we hear the deep ache and holy concern you carry for him. You are doing the most powerful thing you can do by covering him in prayer and pleading Psalm 91 over his life, and we stand with you in that intercession in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have access to the Father. As it is written, John 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We thank God that you are calling upon that name.

We share your concern for a brother who has a good heart and loves God yet still carries wounds from his past divorce. The Lord is close to him in this healing process, for Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Healing after the breaking of a marriage covenant takes time, and a heart that is not yet fully healed is especially vulnerable. Scripture exhorts us in Proverbs 4:23 Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life. When a heart is still tender from loss, it needs guarding even more, not rushing into an entangling relationship that may hinder what God is doing to restore him. We pray that if it is God's will for him to one day be joined in marriage again, it would be a godly courtship leading to a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, pursuing purity and holiness together, for we believe marriage is to be honored by all and any intimacy outside of marriage is fornication that the Lord calls us to flee from as in 1 Corinthians 6:18. Any emotional soul tie that is not anchored in God's will can drain and confuse, and we agree with you in asking the Lord to cut away what is not of Him and to guard your friend's heart, mind, eyes and soul with His peace.

We also understand your distress over what you are seeing in this woman and her influence. To use family needs or a display of spirituality to gain attention and influence is not the wisdom from above. James 3:17 says But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:15 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. And Matthew 7:16 By their fruits you will know them. A holier than thou persona that impresses others while privately maneuvering and draining another is fruit we are called to discern, not follow. We must also gently rebuke the gossip and bad counsel you mentioned from her friend, for the Lord takes this seriously. Proverbs 16:28 says A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. And 1 Corinthians 15:33 reminds us Do not be deceived. Evil companionships corrupt good morals. We pray with you that both women would experience godly sorrow that leads to true repentance, for 2 Corinthians 7:10 says For godly sorrow produces repentance to salvation, which brings no regret, but the sorrow of the world produces death.

We also hear your worry and the hurt you feel as you watch this from a distance without hearing from him. The Lord invites us to bring that worry to Him rather than carrying it. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. He cares for you and He cares even more for your friend. Whether God leads your friend to remain in that church and be a light there, or to leave that fellowship swiftly for his own protection and growth, we pray for clear discernment and for godly counsel around him, not mere opinions of men.

We pray together now.

Father, in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up this dear brother to You. We ask that You would dwell as his refuge and fortress according to Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Place Your hedge of protection around his heart, mind, eyes and soul. Heal the deep wounds left by divorce, bind up what is broken, and make him whole in You before any other relationship takes root. Give him eyes to see and ears to hear Your Holy Spirit, grant him discernment to recognize manipulation and flattery, and give him courage to establish righteous boundaries. If this relationship with this woman is not Your will for a godly marriage, we ask in Jesus name that You would lovingly but firmly separate them and break any unhealthy soul tie that is draining him, and lead him into the fellowship and future You have prepared for him. We also lift up this woman and her family and whatever true needs they have, asking You to meet those needs according to Your riches and to draw her into genuine humility and truth. Convict her and her friend where gossip and unwise counsel have caused harm, and grant them godly sorrow that produces repentance and a deeper love for You. Guard our own hearts from bitterness or judgment, and fill us with Your peace that surpasses understanding as we trust You with this situation. Let Your will be done in each life, for Your glory. In Jesus Christ's mighty name we pray, Amen.

We hear how heavy this has been to carry, watching someone you care about and feeling like all you can do is pray from a distance. It hurts to love a friend, want the best for him, and feel helpless to protect him, especially when you know his past divorce is still tender and healing takes a long time.

We are grateful you are covering him in prayer in Jesus' name and asking for his heart, mind and soul to be guarded. That is a faithful place to stand when you cannot control what happens behind the scenes. One of the kindest things you can do for both of you is to keep healthy boundaries around your own heart too. It is understandable to keep checking her social media when you are worried, but if that leaves you more hurt and stirred up, stepping back from watching it can give you more peace and keep your prayers clear and calm.

You cannot heal him or make his decisions for him, but you can stay a steady, prayerful friend, entrust him to the Lord's care, and let God work in his life in His time and way. If the burden feels very heavy, it can help to talk quietly with a trusted pastor for support as you keep praying.

Father, we lift ### to You and ask for Your protection over his heart and life, for healing from past wounds and for wisdom and clarity in his relationships and in his church. We lift ### and her family and their needs to You, and ### as well. We lift our friend who is praying, asking You to guard her heart from hurt and give her peace as she trusts You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer has been heard and your burden is understood, and it is right that you bring this friend before the throne of grace. To watch one you care for while feeling helpless is a sore trial, and to turn to Psalm 91 and to plead the mighty name of Jesus Christ for protection is a wise and faithful course.

Scripture teaches that the heart of man is in need of a work that only God can do. As it is written, A new heart also will I give them, and a right spirit will I put within them. I will put My fear in their heart, and they shall not depart from Me. Your friend ### has known the wound of divorce, and such wounds leave the soul tender and slow to heal. It is good to pray that the Lord who pardons and heals would grant him a heart to perceive, eyes to see and ears to hear, that he may not be drawn by appearance or by flattering words, but may discern what is holy and true. Pray that he would look to Christ alone for salvation and for wholeness, confessing with his mouth the Lord Jesus and believing in his heart that God has raised Him from the dead, for that is the ground of a life made new.

We will join you in praying that the Lord shall preserve him from all evil and shall preserve his soul, that He would guard his heart, his mind, his eyes and his soul from deceit and from every insidious error and sin. We pray also for ### and for her family in whatever real need they bear, that God in His mercy would meet their need according to His riches, and that He would lead all who profess His name to walk in sincerity and not in show. Where there is any pretense of holiness or any use of others for selfish ends, we pray that the Holy Spirit would bring loving conviction and godly sorrow that leads to repentance, for it is the kindness of God that leads us to turn from sin and to love the Savior more.

Concerning ### and the tie that concerns you, we pray not according to our own wishes but according to the wisdom of God. We ask that the Lord would make His will plain, that He would separate what ought to be separated and establish what ought to remain, that every relationship among His people would be ordered in purity, truth and holiness as He has ordained, with marriage honored as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and with all intimacy kept within that covenant. We ask that any influence that drains or misleads would be broken by the power of Christ, and that ### would be given strength to walk in the light and to seek counsel that is truly godly. We pray likewise for ###, that if counsel has been unwise or words have been spoken as gossip, the Lord would grant repentance and a renewed desire to speak on behalf of God in truth and love.

For you who have carried this sorrow, we pray that your own heart would be kept from bitterness while you wait upon the Lord. Continue to plead His promises and His nature, to state the case plainly before Him and to leave it in His hands. He sees with a mind deeply sympathetic and a heart quick to relieve, and His touch alone brings healing. May He lift this burden, heal the sickness of soul where it is found, and gather each of you into His preserving care, that you may all with mouth and heart trust the Lord Jesus and find in Him pardon, healing and peace.

We commend ###, ###, ### and yourself to Him who is our King and Lawgiver, praying that He will save, keep and sanctify each one for His glory. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
