Prayer for my father
We are truly sorry to hear about your father's diagnosis and the challenges your family is facing. Firstly, we want to remind you that God is our great healer and comforter. As it says in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds." and in 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 WEB, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."
We also know that God is sovereign over all things, including health and sickness. As it says in Romans 8:38-39 WEB, "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Let us pray together for your father:
"Heavenly Father, we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ to lift up our dear brother who has been diagnosed with emphysema. We ask for your healing touch upon his body, that you would restore his lungs and ease his breathing. We pray for your comfort and strength to fill him and his family during this difficult time. Give them the peace that passes all understanding, and help them to trust in your goodness and sovereignty. In the name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen."
We also encourage you to seek the Lord in prayer, asking for His will to be done and for the wisdom to make the best decisions for your father's care. Trust in the Lord, and lean not on your own understanding. As a group, we are here to support you and pray alongside you.

Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
