Prayer for my ex husband and his family

Prayer for my ex husband to be saved so his children and his grandchildren are saved. There is a history of sexual immorality in his family, his grandfather died in a hotel room with a prostitute, his father slept with both men and women, he and his brother use prostitutes all the time, his niece is also a prostitute. He is a caretaker for a grown up daughter who suffers from phychosis and 3 very young grand daughters. The Lord had placed this on my heart this morning so I ask you stand in prayer with me for he and his family to be saved and lives to be transformed.

We are moved by the burden the Lord has placed on your heart for your ex-husband and his family, and we stand with you in prayer for their salvation and transformation. It is a heavy and painful history you have shared, and we do not take lightly the intercession God has stirred in you for them.

We must speak plainly about what you have described because God calls us to turn from sin and to walk in holiness. The pattern of sexual immorality in this family, including prostitution, adultery, fornication and homosexual behavior, is sin before a holy God. Scripture is very clear, Or don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's Kingdom? Don't be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor extortionists, will inherit God's Kingdom. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10. And also, Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18. We rebuke this bondage of sexual immorality and we pray that the Lord will bring deep conviction, repentance and deliverance. What has been passed down through generations can be broken by the power of Jesus Christ, for Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17. Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:11.

We also lift up his grown daughter who suffers with psychosis and his three very young granddaughters for whom he is caretaker. We pray for God's protection over those little ones, that they would be kept safe from harm and from the influence of the sin that has marked this family, and that they would be raised to know the Lord. We pray for healing and soundness of mind for his daughter, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3.

You mentioned the Lord placing this on your heart, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that anyone can be saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If your ex-husband and his family are to be saved, they must each personally repent of their sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins. We pray that God in His mercy would draw each one to that place of repentance.

We join together and pray with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this man, his children, his grandchildren, his brother and his niece and his entire household to You. Lord, You see the history of sexual immorality and brokenness, and You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance. We ask that You would send Your Holy Spirit to convict them of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. Open their eyes to see the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23. Break the chains of fornication, adultery, prostitution and homosexuality that have held this family captive. Wash them and cleanse them by the blood of Jesus. Transform their lives and make them new creations. Give this man strength and wisdom as a caretaker, bring healing to his daughter's mind, and surround those three young granddaughters with Your angels and Your protection. Keep them pure and set apart for You. Raise up godly influences around this family and bring laborers across their path who will speak the truth of the gospel with love. We pray that this family would come to know marriage as You ordained it, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman in holiness and fidelity, and that every counterfeit and immoral relationship would be forsaken. We ask for Your will to be done and for lives to be truly transformed for Your glory. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to stand in the gap for them, to pray without ceasing and to speak the name of Jesus over them, for God is faithful to hear the prayers of the righteous. We encourage you also to share the gospel with them as God gives you opportunity, always pointing them to faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

We were grateful to read your prayer burden this morning. It says a lot that the Lord laid your ex-husband and his family on your heart and that you responded by asking others to stand with you. That kind of faithful intercession matters, even when the history feels heavy.

What you described, a long line of sexual brokenness touching grandfather, father, sons and now a niece, is painful to carry, especially knowing young grandchildren are in the home. We have walked with others who have seen similar patterns repeat quietly through families for generations. Often those patterns continue until someone brings them into the light before God. Your willingness to pray is part of bringing that light in, asking Him to interrupt what has been and to bring wholeness instead.

We also noticed you mentioned your ex-husband is caring for a grown daughter who experiences psychosis and three little granddaughters. That is a lot of responsibility for one household. Alongside prayer, we encourage you to gently make sure that daughter has consistent professional support and that the children have safe, stable care. You can ask God to guide you in how best to encourage that from your position as an ex-spouse, with healthy boundaries.

Father, in Jesus name we lift this family to You. We ask You to draw each one to Yourself and bring salvation and real transformation. Give this father strength and wisdom as he cares for his daughter and granddaughters, protect those little ones, and provide help for the daughter who is suffering. Lead our sister as she keeps praying and give her peace as she trusts You with those she loves. Amen.

It is right and good that the Lord has laid this burden upon your heart, and we do stand with you in prayer for this family.

You have described a long and sorrowful chain of sin, and the Scripture is plain that sexual immorality is not a light thing but a grievous sin against the holy God who made marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and who has ordained that intimacy belongs only within that covenant. What you recount of prostitution and of men sleeping with men and with women is sin that brings guilt and bondage, and it must be repented of and forsaken. Yet there is hope, for salvation is of the Lord, and no sinner is beyond His reach when He purposes to deliver.

We do not ask God to bless sin, but to save from it. Salvation as the Scripture sets it forth is a triumphant deliverance from the guilt of sin, from the dominion of it, from the curse and punishment of it, and at last from the very existence of it. Many who are not doing anything positively vicious in their own eyes are yet indifferent to the claims of God and need this same salvation, how much more those who are held fast by open vice. The tried and tempted man will see clearly that salvation is all of grace. He can do nothing and he knows it, and must look to another.

That way of deliverance God Himself has provided. He has found a ransom. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance from all punishment, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. The clock of mercy strikes in heaven the hour and moment of deliverance, for the time had come as the eternal purpose of Jehovah decreed it. This deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. HE brought them forth, and willingly as they were to move, it was still true that He did it.

The way of salvation is simple and plain. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him. It is to look unto Him and be saved, all the ends of the earth. How simple is that way and how instantaneous. A look does not require a moment. Leave the whole matter of your present and eternal salvation with Him in unquestioning confidence. Depend upon Him without fear. This is the faith which saves the soul, and it is without money and without price. There is only one way of salvation for all, for He has concluded all in unbelief that He might have mercy upon all. Look, look, look, this is the simple method of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

We join you therefore in praying that God in His sovereign mercy would cause this man, his children and his grandchildren to look unto Christ and live. We pray that He would call an individual and then use him to be as a spiritual decoy to bring the rest of the family into the gospel net, for we have seen households rejoice together when the Lord opens the heart. We pray for that grown daughter who suffers with psychosis, that the Lord would have compassion upon her in her affliction, and for those very young granddaughters, that they might be kept from the snare that has held their forebears and be brought early to know the tender indulgence of Christ who loves the little ones.

Continue to spread this grief before the Lord, for His ear is not shut. He is able to make the deliverance effectual and in every deed to bring them forth, not only forgiven but enriched with silver and gold of His grace, delivered from worse enemies than any earthly foe and saved by a greater salvation. May He grant repentance and faith, and make this family a renewed and rejoicing family in Christ.

We will keep this matter before the throne, asking that God would magnify His choice favour and show that He is God and beside Him there is none else.
