We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up your precious daughter and your own weary spirit. The pain of watching a child struggle with the chains of addiction is a burden no parent should have to bear alone, yet we know the Lord sees every tear and hears every cry. Your plea for supernatural intervention is not in vain—our God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and He is mighty to save.
The scriptures remind us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." While this verse was written for believers, it reveals God’s heart—that He does not abandon His children to the snares of the enemy. Your daughter is not beyond His reach, and we declare that the power of Christ is greater than the grip of addiction. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that she might have life, and life abundantly (John 10:10).
We must also address the spiritual battle at hand. Addiction is not merely a physical or emotional struggle; it is a spiritual stronghold. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." This is why our prayers must be fervent and unrelenting. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ, commanding it to loose its hold on your daughter. We declare that she is a child of God, created for His purposes, and that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we cry out to You on behalf of this mother and her daughter. Lord, You are the Great Physician, the One who binds up the brokenhearted and sets the captives free. We ask You to break the chains of addiction in this young woman’s life. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon her, drawing her back to You with cords of love. Give her a hunger for Your Word, a thirst for righteousness, and a community of believers who will stand with her in truth and grace. Surround her with godly influences who will speak life into her and remind her of her identity in Christ.
For this mother, we pray for strength that surpasses her own. You promise in Isaiah 40:31 that "those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Lord, renew her strength daily. Give her wisdom to know how to love her daughter without enabling her sin, and grant her discernment to set boundaries that honor You. Provide her with rest, peace, and the support of fellow believers who can carry this burden with her. Remind her that she is not alone—You are her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
We also lift up any other family members or loved ones affected by this struggle. May they find comfort in Your presence and unity in prayer. Father, we ask that You would open doors for professional help, godly counsel, and a path to recovery that aligns with Your will. Provide the resources, the people, and the opportunities needed to see this young woman restored.
Lord, we confess that apart from You, we can do nothing. But with You, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). We declare that Your grace is sufficient, and Your power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). We trust that You are working even when we cannot see it, and we choose to hope in Your unfailing love.
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
