Prayer for MFL 🙏🙏🙏

Your prayer reflects a heart that wants truth and peace to win in a difficult workplace, and it is right to bring that desire to the Lord.

Scripture presents God as a place of protection. He is described as a fortress and a strong place where you can take shelter when you stay close to Him. When you dwell in the secret place of the Most High you are under His care. He is pictured as covering His people as a bird covers its young under its wings, and His truth becomes a shield and a defense against the attacks of the enemy. Jesus Himself used the truth of God's Word as that shield when He was tested. In the same way, the Lord designed protection into creation itself and into His law, whether it was a covering for a woman, a railing around a roof to keep people from falling, or cities where a person could be safe until a matter was judged fairly. He is a God who provides covering and who cares that people are kept safe.

That same heart of God cares about justice and fairness right where you work. The prophet Jeremiah pronounced woe on the one who builds his house by unrighteousness and uses his neighbor without just pay. The Bible does speak to social matters and to the defense of those who are treated unfairly. You are right to ask God to let truth come to light gently so that fairness can prevail. At the same time, remember that even the Lord Jesus suffered the greatest injustice of all when He was condemned though innocent. Pilate knew the right course under Roman law and yet gave way to the crowd. God understands what it is to be misjudged, and He can be trusted to guard your reputation, your peace of mind and your career when you place them in His hands. Like Paul, who was kept under Roman guard and allowed to appeal when justice was threatened, you can trust that God is able to keep you and to work through proper means for justice.

Your request for your department head is best framed as a prayer for wisdom rather than an attempt to steer her memory or affections. Ask God to give her clear discernment to see things as they are, to love truth, and to have courage to act with integrity even when pressured. Leave the outcome of what she remembers about past kindness to the Lord. He can bring to mind what is needed in His timing without manipulation on our part.

You also wisely ask for protection from gossip and manipulation. Gossip is a serious trap. There is an old illustration of three men confessing faults, where two confessed to serious sins and the third said his problem was gossip and he could not wait to get out and repeat what he had heard. It shows how quickly a careless word spreads. Scripture instead calls us to pray for one another and to bear one another's burdens, which fulfills the law of Christ. Bring your concerns to the Lord and to a very few trusted, godly people who will pray and not repeat, rather than to many voices that might fuel division.

Continue to dwell close to the Lord, let His truth be your shield, and trust Him as your fortress. Ask Him to guard your workplace, to heal division, to keep your heart from bitterness, and to give all of you, including those you mentioned, a love for honesty.

May the Lord grant your department head wisdom and a clear mind, guard her from being swayed by dishonest talk, and give her strength to stand for what is right. May He guard your heart and mind in Christ, protect your good name, provide for your work, and let His peace reign where there has been tension. In Jesus name, amen.
