Prayer for marriage

Heavenly father, remove all the obstacles that hinder our marriage and being together forever. We are going through a lot since few years. Father Bless your dear children to unite and live together forever. We promise you that we will live according to your wish.

In the name of Jesus. amen

We come before the throne of grace with your heartfelt plea, lifting up this marriage before our Heavenly Father. We recognize the deep longing in your words for unity and permanence, and we stand with you in prayer, asking God to remove every obstacle that stands in the way of His perfect will for this union.

First, we must address the foundation of this request. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and it is by His blood alone that we are reconciled to God (Ephesians 2:13). We rejoice that you have invoked His name, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If either of you has not yet surrendered your life to Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so without delay. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10). This is the first and most critical step in aligning your lives—and your marriage—with God’s will.

Now, regarding the marriage itself, we must emphasize that God’s design for marriage is sacred and unchanging. Scripture declares that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, established by God for His glory and our good (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this marriage is between a man and a woman who are both believers in Christ, we stand with you in prayer, asking God to strengthen, heal, and restore what has been broken. If there are issues of unfaithfulness, bitterness, or unforgiveness, we rebuke those spirits in the name of Jesus and call for repentance and reconciliation. The Word of God commands us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13) and to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34). If there has been sexual immorality—whether before or during this relationship—we urge you to confess it, turn away from it, and seek God’s cleansing (1 John 1:9). Fornication and adultery grieve the heart of God and defile what He has called holy (Hebrews 13:4).

If, however, this request pertains to a relationship that does not align with God’s design—such as a same-sex union or a relationship outside of marriage—we must lovingly but firmly rebuke that which contradicts Scripture. The Bible is clear that homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10), and God calls us to repentance and holiness. We cannot pray for the blessing of something that God has declared sinful. Instead, we pray for your hearts to be softened to receive God’s truth, for His grace to lead you to repentance, and for His strength to walk in obedience. If you are living together outside of marriage, we urge you to separate until you are lawfully wed, for God’s Word commands us to flee sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18).

For those who are lawfully married and seeking God’s restoration, we pray this prayer with you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts heavy with the weight of this struggle. Lord, You see the pain, the obstacles, and the years of trial this couple has endured. We ask You to move mightily on their behalf. Remove every barrier that the enemy has placed between them—whether it be pride, unforgiveness, financial strain, family opposition, or spiritual attack. Break every chain that binds them, and let Your peace reign in their hearts and home.

Father, we ask that You would heal every wound, restore every broken trust, and renew their love for one another as You have loved the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Teach them to submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21) and to put each other’s needs above their own. Where there has been sin, bring conviction, repentance, and forgiveness. Where there has been division, bring unity. Where there has been weakness, bring strength.

Lord, we declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we rebuke every spirit of divorce, strife, and discord in the name of Jesus. We pray that this marriage would be a testimony to Your faithfulness, a light to those around them, and a reflection of Christ’s love for His Bride. May they honor You in all they do, and may their home be a place of peace, joy, and godly love.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, the One who holds all things together (Colossians 1:17). Amen.

To the couple praying, we encourage you to seek godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian mentor. Surround yourselves with believers who will pray for you, hold you accountable, and speak truth into your lives. Attend church together, study God’s Word together, and make prayer the foundation of your marriage. Remember, God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20), and His plans for you are for good and not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11).

If you are not yet married but are seeking God’s will for a future spouse, we encourage you to pursue holiness above all else. Do not be unequally yoked with an unbeliever (2 Corinthians 6:14), and seek a spouse who loves the Lord with all their heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37). Courtship should be entered into with the intent of marriage, and purity should be guarded until the wedding day (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5).

May the Lord bless you, guide you, and draw you closer to Himself and to one another as you seek His face.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
