Beloved of All
Your honest and humble confession has been heard, and we join you in bringing this burden before the Lord. It is right to grieve the ways you have not loved your wife as Christ loved the church, and to take responsibility for the hurt you have caused. God sees this sorrow, and His desire is that sorrow would become true repentance that leads to lasting change.
Scripture teaches that not every tear is true repentance. There is a godly sorrow that works repentance unto salvation and brings no regret, because it turns the heart fully toward God and bears fruit in a changed life. That is different from sorrow that only regrets consequences. We pray that the Lord will work that deep, godly sorrow and true repentance in you, not only in words but in a transformed life, in humility, patience, and holiness before Him.
We also remember that marriage is a bond ordained by God and is honorable. It is meant to be kept in purity and faithfulness, and to reflect the covenant love of Christ. Where that bond has been wounded, only God can bring healing. We pray that He will do a healing work in both of you, drawing each heart closer to Himself first, for it is only as you are made whole in Christ that you can walk in peace and holiness with others.
We pray now for you and for your wife:
Father in heaven, we come to you through Jesus Christ alone, who is our only hope of salvation and reconciliation. Have mercy on this husband who confesses his sin. Grant him true repentance, cleanse him, and fill him with your Holy Spirit so that his life shows the fruit of a changed heart. Teach him to walk in humility, self control, and steadfast love, whether or not restoration comes.
We lift up his wife to you. You know her pain and her heart. Bring her healing, comfort, and peace. Guard her and give her wisdom. Where there has been hurt, bring your healing. Soften hearts where only you can, and give clarity to both.
Lord, we ask for your will to be done in this marriage. You hate the breaking of the covenant, and you desire reconciliation where it is possible in holiness and truth. If it is your will, we ask you to open a door for peaceful and respectful communication in your timing, and to rebuild trust step by step. Where conversation is refused, give this husband grace to respect boundaries, to follow peace with all people, and to entrust his wife and his marriage to your hands without pressure or pursuit that disregards her wishes.
Help them both to seek you above all else, to be rooted in your Word, in prayer, and in the counsel of faithful believers. Make their lives holy and pure before you.
We entrust this marriage to your sovereign and loving care, asking not for our will but for yours, and for hearts that are fully surrendered to Christ. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
