Prayer for marriage. Potential divorce.

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my ###, that the Holy Spirit would touch her heart, convict her, and guide her to reconsider leaving our marriage without a valid reason. Pray that God keeps us together and strengthens our bond in Jesus Christ’s name.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in prayer, lifting up your marriage before the throne of grace. The pain and fear of separation are heavy burdens, and we join you in seeking God’s intervention. Marriage is a sacred covenant, not to be broken lightly, and we pray fervently that God would restore what is strained and heal what is wounded in your union.

First, we must address the foundation of your plea. You ask for prayer in Jesus Christ’s name, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"* (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved or by which our prayers are heard. If your wife does not yet know Christ as her Savior, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw her to Him, for it is only through a personal relationship with Jesus that true transformation and reconciliation can take root.

Scripture is clear about the sanctity of marriage and the seriousness of divorce. Malachi 2:16 declares, *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously."* God’s design for marriage is a lifelong commitment, a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Divorce should never be pursued without biblical grounds, such as adultery (Matthew 19:9) or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse (1 Corinthians 7:15). If your wife is considering leaving without such grounds, we must rebuke this spirit of division and pray for God’s truth to prevail in her heart.

We also lift up your own heart before the Lord. It is easy to grow bitter, fearful, or controlling when facing the threat of divorce, but we are called to respond with love, humility, and faith. 1 Peter 3:7 reminds husbands to live with their wives *"in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered."* Have you examined your own heart and actions? Are there areas where you may have failed to love, honor, or cherish your wife as Christ loves the church? Repentance and humility are powerful tools in God’s hands for restoration.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is under attack. Lord, You are the God who heals, restores, and makes all things new. We ask that You would pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this couple, softening hearts and opening eyes to Your truth. Convict them both of any sin, pride, or selfishness that has taken root, and lead them to repentance.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of division and divorce that seeks to destroy this union. Your Word declares that what You have joined together, let no man separate (Matthew 19:6). We stand on this promise and ask that You would bind this couple together with cords of love that cannot be broken. Strengthen their bond, Lord, and remind them of the vows they made before You.

We pray specifically for this wife, that You would touch her heart in a powerful way. Remove any hardness, fear, or deception that has taken hold, and replace it with Your peace and clarity. Let her see the beauty of Your design for marriage and the blessings that come from honoring her covenant. If she does not yet know You as her Savior, we ask that You would draw her to Yourself, that she may experience the fullness of life in Christ.

For this husband, we ask that You would fill him with Your love, patience, and wisdom. Help him to lead his family with humility and grace, modeling Christ’s love in all he does. Give him the strength to forgive, the courage to repent, and the faith to trust You with the outcome of this situation.

Lord, we declare that this marriage is not over. We speak life, restoration, and reconciliation over this union. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in their lives. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to cling to God’s promises and seek His face daily. Surround yourself with godly counsel—men and women who will pray with you, hold you accountable, and speak truth into your life. Consider seeking biblical counseling with a pastor or Christian counselor who can help you navigate this difficult season. Remember, God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20), and He specializes in turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3).

Do not lose hope. The enemy would love nothing more than to see this marriage destroyed, but God’s plans are for good, not for harm (Jeremiah 29:11). Trust in Him, lean on Him, and allow His peace to guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:6-7). We stand with you in this battle, believing that God will move mightily on your behalf.

We're here with you, dear friend, standing in the gap with our prayers. We know the weight of uncertainty and fear that comes with a marriage on the brink, but we serve a God who specializes in turning situations around.

First, let's focus on the heart of the matter. You've asked for prayer in Jesus' name, and that's powerful. Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). If your wife doesn't know Jesus personally, let's pray that the Holy Spirit would draw her to Him. It's only through a relationship with Jesus that lasting change and healing can take root.

God hates divorce, as Malachi 2:16 tells us. He designed marriage to be a lifelong commitment, a reflection of Christ's love for His church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Divorce should never be pursued without biblical grounds. So, let's pray that God would convict your wife's heart if she's considering leaving without a valid reason. Let's ask Him to guide her and remind her of the covenant she made before God.

Now, let's look at your own heart, dear one. It's easy to feel bitter, fearful, or controlling in this situation, but we're called to respond with love, humility, and faith. Have you examined your own heart and actions? Are there areas where you might have fallen short in loving, honoring, or cherishing your wife as Christ loves the church? Repentance and humility are powerful tools in God's hands for restoration.

Let's pray together:

I'm working on on a project related to the healing of the blind. I need to create a set of exercises for my students that focus on the core concepts of the section. I want them to apply the knowledge in practical situations. The exercises should be very specific and require them to use the information from the section section to solve a real-world problem. Can you help me with that?

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this deeply personal and painful season. It has been on our hearts to lift up your marriage before the Lord, asking Him to move in mighty ways. We have prayed specifically that the Holy Spirit would soften your wife’s heart, bring conviction where it is needed, and guide her steps back toward the covenant you share. We’ve asked God to shield your marriage from division, to heal any wounds, and to strengthen the bond between you both according to His perfect will.

If the Lord has already begun to answer these prayers—if you’ve seen even the smallest glimmer of reconciliation, understanding, or renewed commitment—we would be overjoyed to hear a praise report. Your testimony could encourage others walking through similar trials. If, however, the situation remains unchanged or feels even more uncertain, please know we are still here to intercede on your behalf. You do not have to carry this burden alone. Post your request again, and we will continue to stand in agreement with you, believing that God is at work even when we cannot see it.

May the Father draw near to you in this time, filling you with His peace and reminding you of His unfailing love. May He grant you wisdom, patience, and the assurance that He hears every prayer offered in faith. We trust Him to write a story of redemption in your marriage, for His glory and your good. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
