The Choice of a Husband
A woman must choose a husband wisely, for her lifelong joy and peace depend on this one decision.
Worldly Marriages
Choosing wealth or status over character in marriage brings lifelong regret and suffering.
Duties of Husbands to Wives
A husband must honor his marriage vows by cherishing his wife as his sacred duty and lifelong joy.
We rejoice with you in your desire for a godly marriage and we count it a blessing to pray with you for your God ordained husband in the Lord's perfect timing. Your request honors God because it seeks marriage as He designed it, a lifelong covenant commitment between a man and a woman.

The scripture says it is not good that the man should be alone, I will make him a helper suitable for him Genesis 2:18 and whosoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh Proverbs 18:22. Marriage is honorable and God intends it for our good and for His glory, therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate Mark 10:9. We pray not simply for a loving husband but for a godly husband, a mature Christian believer who loves the Lord first and will love you as Christ also loved the church and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25. We encourage you to seek to be equally yoked, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity, or what communion has light with darkness 2 Corinthians 6:14. A courtship that honors God looks toward marriage with another believer and not merely companionship or dating without purpose.

As you wait, we encourage you to guard purity and keep the marriage bed undefiled. The scriptures teach to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18 and that marriage is to be held in honor among all, and its bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. This means saving sexual intimacy for marriage alone, which is fornication outside of marriage, and trusting God to bless obedience. We pray you and your future husband will both walk in that purity.

We also gently noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share why His name is so essential, because it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only through Him we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that God raised Him from the dead, confessing Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and lift up our sister to You. We thank You that You know her heart and her desire for marriage. We ask that You prepare her and prepare the man You have ordained for her, that You would make them both more like Christ and ready to serve You together. Lead her to a man who loves You with all his heart, who will lead his home in love, truth and humility, and who will cherish her as Your daughter. Keep them both pure and faithful while they wait, guard their hearts and bodies for one another. Give her peace and patience as she waits on Your timing, for You make everything beautiful in its time Ecclesiastes 3:11. Help her to delight herself in Yahweh, trusting that You will give her the desires of her heart as she seeks You first Psalm 37:4. Teach her to wait for Yahweh, to be strong and let her heart take courage as she waits for Yahweh Psalm 27:14. If it is Your will, bring this godly marriage to pass and let it be a testimony of Your faithfulness for a lifetime. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to grow in the Lord while you wait, serving Him faithfully, praying, studying His Word, and being active in a Bible believing church where you can be known and where a future husband who loves Christ can find you serving Him. Trust that the Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul that seeks him Lamentations 3:25. He sees you and He is faithful.

Thank you for sharing this desire with us. We hear how much your heart longs for a loving, God-centered marriage, and we are honored to pray with you for God's timing and leading.

Waiting can feel lonely, even when you trust God deeply. We have found this season can also be a meaningful time to grow roots right where you are, deepening your walk with Christ, building strong friendships and community, and serving where God has placed you now. Those sustaining relationships and steady rhythms not only support you while you wait, they also help shape the kind of wife and partner you hope to be.

One simple step that often helps in this season is to invite a couple of trusted people who know you well to walk with you in prayer. Whether it is a pastor, mentor, or a mature married couple in your church, sharing your hope openly allows them to pray specifically, encourage you with wisdom, and help you discern well when you do meet someone.

We join our faith with yours and ask God to guide each step ahead.

Father, we lift our sister to You and thank You for her desire for marriage. You know her heart and her future far better than we do. Give her peace as she waits on You, keep her close to You, surround her with encouraging community, and in Your perfect timing and will, lead her to the husband You have ordained. Help her to trust Your goodness each day. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your prayer is heard and it is a holy and becoming desire which you have expressed before the Lord. To seek marriage as God Himself ordained it, a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, entered into in purity and in the fear of the Lord, is not to seek your own will but to honour Him who first ordained that union.

We do rejoice to join our hearts with yours in prayer, and we would encourage you to wait upon the Lord, for blessed are all they that wait for Him. Our God is a waiting God, and He would have His people to be a waiting people, not trusting to the arm of flesh, nor hastening before His providence, but hoping in His mercy and resting in His perfect timing. He who has taught you from your youth will not forget you now. He writes His law upon the heart, and He preserves that writing even unto the end, and He will keep you as you look to Him.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, our faithful Husband and Keeper, Thou hast shown Thy love to Thy people and Thou hast promised to withhold no good thing from them that walk uprightly. We bring before Thee this Thy daughter who desires to be joined in holy marriage according to Thy Word. Prepare her heart, we beseech Thee, and make her ready for that estate whensoever it shall please Thee to grant it. Keep her in holiness, in patience, and in contentment to abide in Thy will. And if it be Thy gracious purpose, in Thine own time bring into her path a man after Thine own heart, one who loves Christ above all, who will love her as Christ loves His Church, and who will walk with her in faith and obedience all the days of his life. Let their union, if Thou shalt ordain it, be for Thy glory and for their mutual good. Yet above all let Thy will be done, and give her grace to find her full satisfaction in Christ her Saviour, through whom alone is salvation. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord Jesus please richly bless, protect and guide them. Please help them in accordance with your perfect will Father. Thank you and praise you. In your holy name I pray. Amen.
