We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up in this time of trial. Father God, You are the Great Physician, the One who knits us together in our mother’s womb and numbers every hair on our heads. We declare Your sovereignty over sickness and disease, for You alone hold the power to heal and restore. Your Word tells us in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We claim this promise over , Lord, trusting that You are working even now for his good.

We also ask for Your forgiveness to wash over him, for You are faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). If there is any area of his life where he needs to seek Your face, reveal it to him, Lord, and draw him closer to You through this trial. Help him to lean not on his own understanding but to trust in You with all his heart (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that may be trying to take hold, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen ’s faith, Lord, and surround him with brothers and sisters in Christ who will uplift him in prayer and encouragement. May he feel Your presence in tangible ways, knowing that You are with him in the valley just as You are on the mountaintop.

Father, we pray for wisdom for his doctors and medical team. Guide their hands and minds as they treat him, and let every decision be led by Your divine wisdom. We ask for complete healing, body, mind, and spirit, so that may glorify You through his testimony. May his life be a living testament to Your mercy and grace, drawing others to You.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, for there is no other name by which we can be saved or healed (Acts 4:12). By His stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on that truth today. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for Your unfailing love. Amen.

We are holding your friend before the Lord with you. A leukemia diagnosis brings a heavy weight, and we know you are carrying concern for both his body and his soul as you ask for healing and forgiveness. What a gift you are giving him by standing with him in this way, no one fights these battles well alone.

The longing for forgiveness alongside healing makes deep sense. There can be times when serious illness stirs up a need to get things right, to clear away anything that feels like a barrier between ourselves and the God who made us. When we’re physically worn down, that inner restlessness can become especially loud. The promise in Scripture is not complicated: when we confess honestly, we are met with mercy. We don’t have to tidy ourselves up first or earn what only Christ can give. Sometimes the simplest prayer a person can pray is, “Lord, I bring you everything, the ways I’ve failed, the fear, the exhaustion, and I trust your forgiveness is real.” That kind of unburdening can bring a peace that strengthens the heart for whatever lies ahead, whether treatments, waiting, or the daily work of recovery.

Even while your friend leans into that with the Lord, we would gently encourage him to stay closely connected to his medical team. Leukemia treatment requires wise, skilled care, and walking closely with doctors is part of how we steward the lives God has given us. Your steady friendship and prayers will matter more than you know.

Let’s pray:

Lord Jesus, we lift this friend to you, not as a distant case, but as someone you know completely and love deeply. Bring your healing to his body in whatever way you see fit, and grant him the quiet confidence that comes from being forgiven and cleansed. Give his medical team wisdom and attentiveness. And for the one who asked us to pray, sustain their spirit and fill them with hope that does not waver. We ask in your mighty name, Jesus. Amen.

It is a sweet mercy that you have brought your friend before the throne of grace, for to lie at the Savior’s feet is the only place for those bowed down with deadly sorrow and weakness. There is forgiveness. Let this whisper drive away despair. With God there is forgiveness, that He may be feared. Turn to the certainty of it; where God draws no limit, do not you draw any. The declaration stands out in all its glorious fullness, with no abridging or qualifying words whatever. There is forgiveness for the chief of sinners, and it is a continuous, eternal act of free grace for Christ’s sake, leaving the sin as though it had never been.

And as for the healing, see the abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ. Not only is His fruit sweet, but the very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. The least thing about Christ is healing, changing the very lifeblood and making the nature other than it was. Let be brought in spirit to that great conduit Head, from whom abundant streams flow down. First forgiveness, then healing. Is not that the gospel order? The man sick of the palsy received the word "Your sins are forgiven" before the command to rise and walk. So we plead for , that knowing the completeness of divine pardon through simple faith in Jesus, he may also taste the restoring touch that makes even pale faces fresher than newborn babes. Lay hold of this; it is no mere hopeful whisper, but a full, distinct, emphatic, unquestionable assurance.

The news of your friend’s leukemia pierces the heart. In such trials, we are reminded that our very breath hangs upon God’s mercy, and we can only cry out with the Psalmist, “Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered.” For before the body’s healing must come the soul’s release from the fever of pride. Too often we stand like the Pharisee, tallying our imagined merits, and yet it is the one who beats his breast and dares not lift his eyes who goes down justified. True forgiveness springs from that broken ground, where we count ourselves unprofitable and cast all hope on the Physician of souls.

Do not think that such sickness is beyond the reach of grace. Even at the very gates of hell, the vestibule of despair, a single blow of divine love can fell the stoutest disease. I have seen souls that seemed insensible to ten thousand words suddenly bear abundant fruit. Therefore, we will not cease to entreat the Lord for your friend’s healing, and more urgently, for a heart that clings to nothing but Christ. For if love be absent, even miracles profit nothing; yet where love anchors in humility, there is glorious reward. Let him hear the word that calls us out from unclean things, and he will be received. Pray without ceasing, and let no root of boasting remain. God, who confirms His promises with signs, is more trustworthy than all our forefathers’ reports. He is ready to forgive, ready to heal, ready to make even this bitter cup a vessel of eternal life.

It is no harder for the Lord to heal leukemia than it is a common cold. We tend to rank sicknesses in our minds, as if a headache needs a simple prayer while cancer demands something far more intense from us. But God does not share our categories of difficult or easy. His power is not measured by the severity of a diagnosis. So we bring this friend before the throne with confidence, not because the illness is small, but because the Healer is great.

The Scriptures show that Jesus bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. The prophet Isaiah spoke of it, and Matthew applied that very truth to the healings Jesus performed. When He took bread and said it was His body broken for us, that suffering reaches into every realm, physical as well as spiritual. There is no tight, narrow limit to His compassion. So we ask boldly for a full work of healing in this man's body, right down to the blood and the marrow. Whether the healing comes in an instant, a gradual recovery that doctors watch with amazement, or a quiet restoring of strength that can only be explained as divine, we trust the processes God has established within the human frame. All true healing is from His hand.

Yet even in asking for the body, do not lose sight of what matters most. You mentioned forgiveness, and that is the deepest need any of us can name. A man can walk in perfect health straight into a lost eternity. When Jesus saw a paralyzed man lowered through a roof, His first word was not “Rise and walk” but “Your sins are forgiven.” The religious men around Him thought it was blasphemy, but Jesus knew the greater miracle. Physical healing addresses time; forgiveness addresses forever. If your friend is seeking that cleansing, the way is open and simple. He does not need to carry his past like a weight that cannot be lifted. The promise is that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That is a full forgiveness, not a partial one. It is not like the grudging pardon we sometimes extend one another, where we say we forgive but keep the handle of the hatchet visible just in case. When God forgives, He removes the transgression as far as the east is from the west. He blots it out. He justifies.

So pray for the healing of the body, yes. Pray with earnestness, knowing that sometimes God delivers immediately and sometimes He gives us a thorn that remains for reasons we cannot fully grasp, as Paul experienced. We do not always understand why one person is healed and another is not, but we keep asking with open hands. At the same time, pray and speak to your friend about the healing of the soul. The greatest miracle God ever works in a life is not the mending of cells but the salvation of a sinner. Everything else is secondary.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” The invitation is still extended. Come and receive God’s love. Come and receive His forgiveness. Come and be made a child of God. Let that eternal issue be settled, and then walk forward trusting the Lord with every physical need. He is able, and He is willing to be found by those who seek Him.
