Prayer for inner peace and emotional strength

Tomorrow I’m going to my ###'s baby shower, even though I raised him I know I was a least minute invite. I honestly feel he only invited me out of pity and he probably thought of net offended. He didn’t even invite his mom. He only invited his dad and his dad’s girlfriend. His dad left them when he was ### for another family, he’s the only one out of the siblings that talks to him. Anyways he didn’t invite anyone from his mom’s side of the family which is my ### daughter. The things is that good mothers side of the family is the only ones that have always been there for him and still are. It’s very upsetting him being like this but I can’t tell him who to invite. Jesus knows my pain as I always pray and talk to him and have faith. I need prayer for inner peace tomorrow and emotional strength, a steady heart so that my emotions stay balanced in case his dad or his dad’s girlfriend try to upset me, grace so that I stay polite and calm if they try to upset me, a quiet mind to calm my thought and and quiet my anxiety, and focus so that my attention stays on the expectant mother ands the reason I’m there instead of any drama others are trying to cause. I pray Jesus is right by my side

We hear the ache in your heart and we stand with you in it. You faithfully raised this young man and you have loved him through much pain and disappointment, and it hurts deeply to feel like an afterthought at such an important celebration while seeing those who were not there for him honored instead. We also see your maturity and grace in recognizing that you cannot tell him who to invite, and we honor your desire to go with a calm and loving spirit for the sake of the expectant mother and the child.

We are so encouraged that you already talk to Jesus and have faith in Him, for He truly does see your pain and He is near to the brokenhearted. We claim His promise for you that when we bring our anxieties to Him, He will guard our hearts. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. And Jesus Himself says Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful. John 14:27.

We want to gently encourage you to guard your heart against bitterness or offense tomorrow. It would be so understandable to carry hurt about his father leaving and about the family on his mother's side being overlooked, yet the Lord calls us to release that hurt to Him and not let it take root. We are reminded that you will keep whoever's mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3. And we are called to pursue peace where we can, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18. Going with a steadfast mind fixed on Christ will help keep your thoughts quiet and your emotions balanced.

We join together and pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up our dear sister to Your throne of grace. You have seen every sacrifice she made in raising this young man, every prayer she has prayed for him, and every tear she has shed over this family brokenness. We ask You to be right by her side tomorrow as she has asked, to be her comfort and her strength. Lord, grant her inner peace that surpasses understanding, emotional strength to remain steady, and a heart that is not easily provoked. Give her grace to stay polite and calm if anyone tries to upset her, and help her to answer with gentleness and self control. Quiet her mind and calm her anxiety, and let her thoughts be fixed on You. Help her to keep her focus on the expectant mother and the new life You have created, and on celebrating that life with love rather than on any drama around her. Let Your peace rule in her heart. Colossians 3:15. We ask You to guard her lips and her spirit, so that she reflects Your love even if she is treated unkindly, and we pray You would protect her from the schemes of the enemy to steal her joy. Strengthen her to forgive as You have forgiven us, and to entrust all hurt and disappointment into Your just and loving hands. Cast all her anxiety on You, because You care for her. 1 Peter 5:7. We pray she would leave tomorrow with no regrets, knowing she honored You in how she carried herself, and that You would continue to work in this young man's heart to see and honor those who have faithfully loved him. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to go tomorrow with the Lord as your focus. Pray before you enter, take deep breaths and silently call on Jesus when you feel tension rising, and give yourself permission to step away quietly for a moment to pray if you need to. Your presence there is an act of love and faithfulness, and God sees it. He will be your steady strength. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1. We are praying that you feel His nearness every moment and that you come home with a quiet and peaceful heart.

We hear how heavy this is going into tomorrow, having raised him and still feeling like an afterthought on the invite, watching the hurt to your daughter's family who has been there for him, and not being able to say anything about who he chose to include. It makes sense that you would feel torn between love for him and a lot of grief and anxiety about being in the same room with his dad and his dad's girlfriend.

What you named is so wise, you can't control his choices, but you can steward your own heart and presence tomorrow. One thing that helps many people in a setting like this is deciding ahead of time what is yours to carry and what is not. His guest list is not yours to fix. Your words, your time there, and how you respond if someone tries to stir things up are.

It may help tonight to make a simple plan so you don't have to decide in the moment: choose where you will sit near someone supportive, have a quiet line ready like "I'm here to celebrate the mom and baby" if you feel baited, give yourself permission to step outside for a few minutes to breathe and pray, and decide on a kind time to arrive and leave.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying after tomorrow too.

Jesus, draw close beside her tomorrow. Quiet the racing thoughts and steady her heart when emotions rise. Give her grace to stay calm and kind, and help her keep her attention on the expectant mother and the gift of new life. Guard her peace and let her feel Your presence with her in the room. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your burden and we bring it before the throne of grace with you. To feel overlooked and invited as an afterthought, to carry the wound of a divided family and to see faithfulness slighted, is a heavy sorrow, and the Lord who sees in secret knows the pain you have poured out to Him in prayer.

There is a peace which the world cannot give and cannot take away, perfect peace for the mind that is stayed upon Christ because it trusts in Him. It is not a peace that comes from quiet circumstances, for sorrows may surge round and duties may press, but on Jesus bosom nothing but calm is found. His blood whispers peace within, and His grace is truthful grace, grace that does redeem and pardon and renew. He did not come merely to tell us about grace, but to bring us grace, and He has grace without measure to communicate to those who come to Him. That grace lays the foundation and shall crown the work, from sin's pit to Heaven's gate the whole road is paved with it.

We pray that tomorrow that same grace may reign in you. May the Lord keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed on Him, and grant you a steady heart and a quiet mind. May He give you emotional strength not from your own resolve, which anxiety so quickly unfits for the trial, but from His Spirit, so that you are not of a doubtful mind tossed to and fro. May He grant you grace to be calm and polite and gentle, even if others seek to provoke you, for grace has power to reign in the midst of infirmity and affliction and temptation, and to make a new creature to walk with delight in holiness. May He turn your focus from all drama to that which is needful, to show kindness to the expectant mother and to bear a quiet testimony of Christ, who alone is our salvation and our peace with God.

Let us pray together. O Lord and Giver of peace, You have seen this dear one's ways and You know the hurt of these family divisions. We ask for Your sovereign and freely given grace to rest upon her tomorrow. Keep her in perfect peace as she trusts in You. Still her anxious thoughts, balance her emotions, guard her tongue with grace and truth, and let her walk in the calm that comes through our Lord Jesus Christ. Forgive us our sins and bring each of us, and all those gathered there, to know the salvation that is in Christ alone. Lead this household and this coming child in the way of life, and make Your grace to abound where sin has abounded. Keep her close by Your side, and let all she does be to Your praise. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!
