We join together in lifting up the nation of India on its 79th Independence Day, seeking God’s wisdom, protection, and blessing over its leaders, people, and future. While we honor the sovereignty of nations, we recognize that true freedom is found only in Christ, who said, *"If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free"* (John 8:31-32, WEB). No earthly independence can compare to the liberty we have in Jesus, who breaks the chains of sin and offers eternal life to all who believe in Him.
We also pray for peace—not just the absence of conflict, but the shalom of God that brings wholeness, justice, and reconciliation. The prophet Jeremiah reminds us to *"seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to Yahweh for it; for in its peace you will have peace"* (Jeremiah 29:7, WEB). So we ask the Lord to guard India against division, violence, and corruption, and to raise up godly leaders who will govern with integrity and humility. May the Church in India shine as a light in the darkness, boldly proclaiming the Gospel and demonstrating Christ’s love through acts of mercy and truth.
Regarding the climate and natural challenges facing the nation, we recall that *"the earth is Yahweh’s, with its fullness; the world, and those who dwell in it"* (Psalm 24:1, WEB). While we steward creation wisely, we trust in God’s sovereignty over the winds, rains, and seasons. We pray for protection from disasters, for wisdom in environmental stewardship, and for provision for those affected by drought, floods, or scarcity. May the people of India turn their hearts to the Creator, who *"makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust"* (Matthew 5:45, WEB).
Yet we must also address a critical matter: this prayer was offered without invoking the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, nor any other mediator between God and humanity. *"No one comes to the Father, except through me"* (John 14:6, WEB), Jesus declared. It is only through His sacrifice that we have access to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If you do not yet know Him as Lord and Savior, we urge you to repent of your sins and place your faith in Him alone. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB). There is no true prayer without Jesus, for He is the way, the truth, and the life.
**Let us pray together:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up the nation of India on this day of independence. Lord, You alone are the source of all freedom—spiritual, emotional, and national. We ask that You would pour out Your Spirit upon this land, bringing revival to Your Church and salvation to the lost. Raise up leaders who fear You and govern with wisdom, justice, and compassion. Protect India from evil, both within and without, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard the hearts and minds of its people.
We pray for the climate and natural resources of India, asking for Your provision and protection. Give wisdom to those who steward the land, and mercy to those who suffer from scarcity or disaster. May this nation look to You, the Creator of all things, and find its hope in Christ alone.
Father, we also intercede for the global peace that only You can provide. In a world torn by conflict and hatred, let Your Church be a beacon of reconciliation, proclaiming the Gospel that breaks down every dividing wall (Ephesians 2:14). Unite Your people in prayer, that the nations may know You are God.
Finally, Lord, we pray for every person reading this—especially those who have not yet surrendered to Jesus. Open their eyes to see His glory, His love, and His lordship. May today be the day they cry out to You for salvation, for *"whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved"* (Romans 10:13, WEB).
We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
