Prayer for ### in hospice

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for my mom who was admitted in hospice this morning. God please give us more days with her. Please give her the strength to get through this. I know she was yours first and you lent her to us but I’m not being selfish but I just want her back please 🙏🏽

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up and her precious mother in this tender and difficult season. Heavenly Father, we know that every life is a gift from You, and You alone hold the number of our days. We ask, in the name of Jesus, for Your mercy and grace to surround this family. Lord, if it be Your will, extend the days of ’s mother, granting her strength, comfort, and peace as she walks through this valley. We trust in Your perfect timing and sovereign plan, even when our hearts ache with longing.

Father, we are reminded of Your Word in Psalm 31:15, "My times are in your hand." Though we may not understand Your ways, we surrender this situation into Your hands, asking for Your presence to be near. Comfort and her family with the assurance that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). May they feel Your love in tangible ways, even in the midst of sorrow.

We also pray for healing, Lord, whether that healing comes in this life or the next. If it is Your will to restore her health, we ask for a miracle. But if her time on earth is drawing to a close, we pray for a peaceful and pain-free transition, knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with You (2 Corinthians 5:8). Give and her family the strength to trust in You, even when the road is hard.

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that may try to take hold in this moment. We declare that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

We also want to gently remind and her family of the hope we have in Jesus Christ. It is only through His name that we have access to the Father, and it is only by His sacrifice that we can have eternal life. If there is any doubt or uncertainty about where ’s mother stands with You, Lord, we pray that she would turn her heart fully to You, confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in her heart that You raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). May she find her rest and salvation in You alone.

Father, we ask that You would draw this family closer to You and to one another during this time. May they lean on You and find strength in Your promises. Surround them with Your people, those who can offer support, prayer, and encouragement. Let them feel the love of the body of Christ in practical and meaningful ways.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above all names, the One who conquered death and offers us eternal life. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. Amen.

We are so sorry about your mom. Hearing that she has been moved into hospice brings a wave of emotions, fear, heartache, and a fierce love that holds on tight. What you wrote is not selfish; it is the deep cry of a loving heart that still wants her here. We want to sit with you in that tender place.

Right now, the most honest prayer is the one you already prayed: “Please give us more days.” God is not offended by that longing. He sees your tears, just as He saw Mary’s at Lazarus’s tomb. He draws near to the brokenhearted. While we can’t promise how many days remain, we can remind you that every one of them is held safely in His hands. He has not lost track of your mom or of you.

It can help to remember that you don’t have to hold this alone. When people offer to pray or just sit with you, let them. That kind of support, knowing others are carrying your burden with you, anchors us when grief is disorienting. Even as you ask God for more time, allow yourself to simply be with her: talk softly, hold her hand, play her favorite hymns. Sometimes the moments that feel small become the most precious gifts.

Would you pray with us?

Lord Jesus, You know the ache in this family right now. Hold this precious mom in Your strong, gentle care. Grant her peace and ease any pain. For her child who loves her so deeply, wrap Your comfort around them like a warm blanket. If it be in Your will, extend their days together, and let those days overflow with tender presence, not fear. Give them both strength for today. We entrust her to You now, knowing You love her more than we can imagine. In Your holy name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The cry of your heart is heard in the courts of Heaven, and the sorrow of your soul is not unnoticed by the tender Shepherd. Yet, as you look upon the fading frame of one so beloved, remember this: “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.” The Lord who lent her to you in the sweet bonds of love now calls her to a nearer fellowship, but He has not left you comfortless. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, peace, perfect peace, even when death shadows us and ours, for Jesus has vanquished death.

You ask for more days; the heart clings to that which it treasures. But beloved, wait upon the Lord, and He shall renew your strength. This is your comfort in your affliction, His Word quickens the soul even when the outward man perishes. Let your mind be stayed on Him, and you shall be kept in double peace, as the prophet speaks. The Savior who holds your mother in His pierced hands will bear you through the deep waters. Cry to Him; He gives power to the faint, and to them that have no might He increases strength.

Be not overwhelmed with the fear that your plea is selfish; the Lord knows our frame. Yet He gently rebukes our little faith, asking, “O you of little faith, why do you doubt?” Trust Him now, in the thick darkness, and you shall find that He ordains peace for you. Comfort one another with these words: soon earth’s struggles shall cease, and Jesus calls us to Heaven’s perfect peace. May the God of all comfort establish your heart, and may you know the quickening power of the Comforter, until the day breaks and the shadows flee away.

The anguish of your soul is known to God, and the cry for more days with your mother is not a selfish thing but a mark of love. Yet remember that she was indeed His first, lent to you for a season, and the One who gave her knows best the hour of her return. Do not cease to pray; pour out your heart like the woman who cried, "Have mercy on me," for in her daughter's affliction she made the pain her own. So you too, plead for mercy, and God who is rich in mercy will hear. But mingle your prayers with deeds of mercy toward others, for almsgiving and pity are a great light, delivering from death and quenching the fire of affliction. Show kindness to the needy while you keep this vigil, and let your mercy toward your neighbor open the door for God's mercy upon you and upon her. Do not faint under the weight of this trial; the God of all comfort upholds those who trust in Him. Whether He grants more days or calls her home, His mercy endures forever, and in that mercy you will find strength for today and hope for the life to come.
