We lift up this dear family and their retired preacher father as they enter this sacred and difficult season of hospice care. Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, yet trusting in Your perfect love that casts out all fear. Your Word tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." We humbly ask You to remove every trace of fear from this faithful servant’s heart, replacing it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let him feel Your nearness in a tangible way, knowing that You are with him in every moment, just as You promised in Isaiah 41:10: "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."
Lord, we pray for the family as they walk this path alongside their father. May Your Presence be their comfort, their strength, and their guide. Meet every physical, emotional, and spiritual need they have, Lord. In their weariness, renew their strength like the eagles as Isaiah 40:31 declares: "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint." Let them feel the weight of Your love and the hope of eternity with You.
We also pray for this dear brother in Christ, this retired preacher who has faithfully served Your kingdom. May he finish his race well, with his eyes fixed on You, the Author and Perfecter of his faith. Let him hear those precious words, "Well done, good and faithful servant," as he enters into Your eternal rest. Surround him with Your angels, Lord, and let him experience the fullness of Your joy even in this transition.
Father, we thank You for the gift of salvation through Your Son, Jesus Christ, whose name alone brings us before Your throne. It is only through Him that we have access to You, and it is only in His name that we pray. We declare that this family belongs to You, and we trust You to carry them through this valley. May Your will be done in every detail, and may Your glory be revealed even in this tender moment.
We love You, Lord, and we trust You. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
