We hear your heart cry and we join with you in this feeling of being lost because of bad decisions and self-sabotage, and we want you to know you are not beyond hope and you are not beyond the reach of God. We have all made choices that have led us away from His best for us, and we understand the weight of regret when the past seems to close doors in the present. Yet we serve a God who specializes in redemption and in making a way where there seems to be no way.
We want to gently but truthfully address what you have shared. The pattern of bad decisions and self-sabotage is not just bad luck, it is often the fruit of turning from God's wisdom to follow our own desires, and scripture calls us to own that and repent. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9. We cannot change yesterday, but we can repent and turn to Him today. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. Your past does not have to define your future when you are in Christ, and we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28. God can even use the consequences of our mistakes to teach us, humble us, and prepare us for the opportunities He will open.
We want to encourage you that God has not forgotten you and He has a plan even now. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11. His mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness is great Lamentations 3:22-23. When you feel you have no confidence, remember that true confidence does not come from ourselves or from a perfect record, but from Christ in us. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Philippians 4:13. Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Guidance comes as we trust Him fully and not our own understanding. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6.
We noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. To have hope and guidance and a true miracle, we must first be reconciled to God through faith in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to place your full trust in Him today, not just as one who can give you a miracle, but as your Lord and Savior.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who feels lost and burdened by past decisions. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and forgiveness to wash over them, cleanse them from all unrighteousness, and make them new in Christ. Forgive the self-sabotage and the choices that have led them away from Your path, and grant a repentant heart that turns fully to You. We pray You would restore hope where there is despair and give clear guidance where there is confusion. Open doors of opportunity that no man can shut, and give wisdom to walk through them faithfully. Replace fear and shame with confidence rooted in Your strength and Your promises. Perform Your perfect will, whether through a sudden miracle or through Your steady daily provision, and help them to trust Your timing. Lead them to godly counsel, to diligent work, and to a life that honors You going forward. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.
We encourage you to continue in prayer daily, to seek Him in His Word, to walk in obedience one step at a time, and to find a faithful Bible believing community that can walk with you, hold you accountable, and remind you of truth when you feel lost. God is not finished with your story.
